Title: CSS and browsers.

'Allo, all you webmasters!
I'm remaiking my website (http://www.whabang.tk). The new one will, for layout, use CSS-only; so unfortunately, most Amiga-browsers will be left out in the cold... :-(
Any tips on how to make as non-CSS-browser friendly CSS layout as possible?
Also, does anyone have a sollution/workaround for the fact that IE doesn't support [color=CC0000]position: fixed;[/color] properly?

Don't forget that if you use CSS/HTML that adheres to the standards (validator.w3.org might be handy in that respect), will allow non-CSS browsers to render it, just in a more basic form, but still readable.

Examples of which can be found at www.meyerweb.com, of which I have to admit I've stolen/customised the designs for my own sites before :-)

That's the good thing about CSS, if a browser doesn't understand a command then it will be ignored, although it can make the page look a bit boring.
If you are using position:fixed for a navigation bar then stick it along the top as  IE will just render it as an absolute and then not mess up the page. It will be position:fixed in Mozilla and Opera though.

The problem is that I intended to use a fixed menu bar at the bottom of the page:

You can try using two fixed sized

areas, one at the bottom for your logo's etc and use overflow:auto for the main

. This will provide an extra scroll bar giving the effect of a fixed area at the bottom..
This will work in IE and Mozilla but not in Opera,,aargh!

as i hate IE, i make code that will be read in most mozzila type browsers. like Opera

generally, it works ok in IE.

when I really need to have something placed exactly where i want it i use tables.

that still works.
