Good and Bad news! Which do you want?
How many people, apart from Amiga fans like you and me, are going to go to compusa and type in 'amiga' ? :-D
The actual software on these cards isn't revolutionary. There is a lot of freeware/shareware on aminet that's better and more FUN to play with.. not to mention free! $30 US$ (or around $50 Canadian) is a lot of money for this type of software. You can buy CD-ROMs with PDA software (http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?category_id=706&srch_type=catg2) for a lot less.
Would UAE for PocketPC be a lot more fun? :-D

You are free to your opinion, but may I ask what on earth you
are basing this on, assuming you haven't played the games of
these packs? You may well be right, by all means, but don't
you think you are trying a little too hard to find negative
angles making statements like this?
If you want to bash, at least stick to things you know, like
the somewhat valid concerns leter in your post.

Using the search term Amiga isn't the only way to find them - its just the way that will list the Amiga-specific items.
Here (http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?category_id=671&srch_type=catg2) are the Amiga products with other items in the PDA expansion packs category.
Its a good sign, I have to admit.

Intersteller Flames (http://www.xengames.com/products.html): A cool multiplatform game that runs on PocketPC and phones. And it costs $6.99! :-D I can afford that.

I'd point out a nice Tech Edge article on PocketPC and Cell Phone games from last month. None of Amiga's games got even noticed. Rather, FPS shoot-em-ups, graphical RPG's, and god-games got the majority of the accolades.

I'd say it's good to see Amiga content available through the CompUSA website and actual stores.
I doubt the CompUSA website will get many hits on Amiga content, unless Amiga Inc advertises. I'd be placing news items and ads on Pocketgamer.org (www.pocketgamer.org), New Mobile Computing (http://www.newmobilecomputing.com/), amoung other popular websites.
Advertising works...
Interstellar Flames and Snails advertise on PocketGamer. I saw their ads and got interested enough to try them and soon after I bought a copy of each.
I did buy a copy of a number the AmigaDE titles from Amiga-Anywhere.com, but they haven't added anything new in a while. :(
I'd like the option to buy selected games from their new pocket paks to enjoy on both the PocketPC and desktop. Of course this means a friendly DE player needs to be released for both.

PDA games... w00t... not... I can emulate with Zsnes on my PDA and play all the SNES games I want... not to mention my PDA can run UAE and thus all old Amiga games... :)
or you could spend 4 times what their asking for the pocketpack...and get a GP32...and then you can play movies/mp3's/ and of course alot of games for free on it....
but they really need to get Zsnes up to snuff on that thing... I'd love to play SNES games on it...for now... my PDA works fine ;P

It's the same price as the PalmPak games listed on the same page and lower than some of the other software titles there. In short, it's competitive, at least at CompUSA (not my favorite computer store).

I think it's both. Let's not deny Amiga, Inc. its successes. Getting these products listed at CompUSA is something, anyway. So it's good news as far as it goes. The trouble is, to me, that so little has followed in the wake of the first releases. And that the SDK hasn't progressed much, if at all, since its early days. The bad news, then, is that there seem to be very few people actually working on AmigaDE content, or anyway, there aren't many results to be seen. I imagine this is due to underfunded Amiga, Inc. not being able to ramp up SDK development, and to the fact that the pool of still-active Amiga developers -- at least those interested in working on AmigaDE content -- is smaller than Amiga and Tao thought in the beginning.

A agree with you on a few points, I think there was an initial rush of interest which has died down a fair bit, but it's certainly still there.
As you certainly know, the MS deal was announced a few months back, but things haven't gone as smoothly as they could have (understatment of the year), but things are starting to turn around, finally.
We've got OS4 around the bend and real Amiga software in the stores. It's getting better- again.

I agree it does look bad when no content has been released in a while. It's mainly due to forces beyond Amiga Inc's control. I know several Amiga DE developers and they are making content -- some are doing so part-time. Being a developer myself, for content targeted at Tao-Group's Intent, it does take time to create content that the user finds enjoyable.
The company I helped start is adding additional developers. I just added another developer this weekend.
Intent is being developed and I have to say there are new goodies coming (from Tao-Group) that will assist developers using it.
I can't speak for Amiga, but I do know they are making gaming/content tools.

Anyone else notice the manufacture is listed as microsoft? Not Amiga Inc. Not the best news, but a search of Microsoft and Games would get a hit eventually. Call me when a search of new computers list the Amiga OS5.x ;-)
