Title: Catweasel: new multidisk.device available
Post by: takemehomegrandma on April 12, 2003, 01:49:29 AM
The new multidisk.device for Amiga OS (version 2.0 and up) and MorphOS now recognizes the Catweasel MK3 PCI/Flipper in a PCI-slot of an Amiga, Amithlon or Pegasos. With this, individual computers (http://www.ami.ga/) is the first to deliver a working floppy-driver for the Pegasos, which brings the aspiring system one step closer to the big role model "Amiga". Burning CDs to transfer small amounts of data is no longer necessary, now you can use floppy disks of all common disk formats like Amiga 880K, Amiga 1760K, PC720K, PC1440K and many more.
The device is a public beta version, and it uses OpenPCI (http://www.chez.com/titan/) to recognize and activate the board. Unfortunately, neither the authors of OpenPCI, nor we could get hold of developer information about the Mediator PCI board, so this will not be supported until further notice.

It never was you could use zip disc or in my case my amiga has an ls120 floppy drive which also reads pc disks .
I must admit though that this device is very usefull and has many features they are continuing to develop it and drivers so it will even be able to read mac discs and use a pc disk drive to read amiga disk and notice disk changes.plus 100,s of other formats of disk .top marks to them for this great piece of hardware.

Thanks, Jens! My poor beleaguered expanded-to-the-max Amiga2000 has been dying for ages (not the Buddha part though - that got me up to this year) and is getting stripped of hard drive right now to get a lot of my programs and data onto my beautiful screamin' new Pegasos machine.

Catweasel will take it the rest of the way, and I can also forget about fixing my dead 4000 as well, for all times!

Diskette interface of Catweasel MK3 works fine under Pegasos/Morphos 1.3 ,  so far I have only tested reading Amiga 800K and PC HD 3.5"  floppies, but according others it writes OK too.

That settles it... I'm getting a CatWeasel!

I've set up some mechanism to backup my disks on floppy but my Miggy is too unstable to do this reliably.

Hmm I am about to get a catweasel MK III for my Pegasos II. Are they working any better? Has real Amiga Keyboard support been added yet?
