I could have sworn I read somewhere that the Pegasos II wasn't going to be available until Sept? Am I losing my mind? Does this have the Artica/April or the new chip? Is this a limited run? Will Softhut/other in the USA have stock available for overnight shipping? I'm still sort of interested, but I don't preorder anything. It must be in hard stock for IMMEDIATE shipping. I do have cash on hand..hmm..

@red

I wish (WISH WISH WISH) you were right ....  ;-)

These boards are still Pegasao1 (but with April2) built from
the last 400 Articias Genesi has gotten.

Softhut does AFAIK not stock the Pegasos, but you might try
http://www.pegasos-usa.com/ (http://www.pegasos-usa.com/)

or even better some european distributors like KDH, Computer-City
or gss-data ,as those have gotten boards 100% certain.

Wether they have any left is a different question.

Bout pre-ordering:
Would it trouble you to be put on a list of potential buyers
that will be contacted first when the next batch arrives ?

Thats what I did at KDH back than, no pre-pay and not even
a "automatic-buy"-clause.

>it only mentions linux and no morphos

Every dealer selling the Pegasos motherboards also
ships the latest version of MorphOS with the boards.

That's what I did with the A1 and it made me very bitter. I'll probably wait.

What complaints are there about Paypal? I just signed up for it.

Or, are you just trying to stir things up? :-)

@weirdami

Back in the old days I used to hear complaints. That was a long time ago. I have used PayPal for years now with no problems. Also they recently got bought out by eBay so expect quality to only go up.

I'd just send an email to KDH/Vesalia and ask if they
have one left for you.

look over at MorphZone or ANN.LU and you see the 'DUAL G3 and G4 MAINBOARD'

advertised over and over again....yet they full well know it is only a single processor G3.

Of course the plans for the Peg II, which they have proven repeatedly they both can and will change on a whim... may still be for a G4 and dual G4 configuration...but so what.  They are running misleading advertisements, and as it goes on month after month, I truly think they don't care.

The other thing is this....announcing they were sold out a month ago, and now finally shipping...where was the legitimate opportunity for someone who doesn't pre-pay to buy the board.

I SUSPECT RATHER HEAVILY, this operation is not so well financed as they make themselves out....they needed to be paid before they could produce the boards...why else did they do it?

I truly loathe having to guess...so I won't guess.
I will just say this...too much nonsense going on for me to enter the market.  I still hope, that someday, someone will have a normal situation, you pays your money, you gets your board.

Signing out.....

@Marktime

NOONE prepayed !!!!!

The boards were sold out because Genesi couldn't get any more
Articias. Months later they got a final batch of 400 chips which
were used to build the boards that are shipping now.

Nothing odd about it.

In september, you should be offered to upgrade to pegasos 2 (DDR, G4...) for 200 euros only.

@Jose:

Is it only me noticing you go all around places posting this crap? (I won't use the word FUD) I wonder what are your motives.

Let me quote from something told by bbrv himself (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=11):

"1. We will provide a G4 module for Pegasos I owners -- we will no longer make the Pegasos I after we produce the next 400-450 (that number did not change - just remember we are "recycling" Betatester and April 1 boards). That means there will not be a Pegasos I G4 release, BUT we can still offer a G4 module. Alternately, Pegasos I purchasers will have the 200 Euro upgrade package to the Pegasos II (with trade-in)."

Maybe I'm misinterpretating it, but it seems pretty clear for me, that there will be G4 CPU modules for the Pegasos I too.

How do you know that? Joanna Kurki prepaid, she's probably not the only one.

Genesi does not ask for pre payment from their resellers. So the theory they wait to get the money to produce the cards is wrong. As for the delays it is coming once again thanks to MAI unability to ship the articia in time.
Some resellers may take some pre payments. There is nothing Genesi can do about it.
When BBRV said that the 300 boards were sold out they were in fact ordered by the dealers but not yet delivered nor paid.
The good news is that several dealers have boards NOW and that if they did not reserve all of them for waiting customers anyone can order and get a Pegasos now.  :-D

This incident has been discussed thru on Ann-lu and #morphos couple weeks ago, even though some people have not apparently heard about it.

Based on info I have collected some people's (me and other Finns ordering those 299$ pegasos. I don't know any others, so it's under 15) CC's were  processed too early. I do belive it was honest mistake/ miscommunication and even though I can't be really happy on this latest delay,  I  (and apparently others too) have decided to give Genesi fair chance to deliver what was ordered.

I didn't and I'm not the only one. There's a "reservation list".

Yes, I consider it as pre-payment as the money was charged long time ago and I am still waiting for my Pegasos.

And I heard the MorphOS version included will be 1.3, not 1.0.

Yes, I can confirm that my credit card was processed earlier this month and I am yet to receive a product. The credit card was processed by Pegasos-USA, which I believe is a franchising operation - I don't know their exact affiliation with Genesi.

I find this unfortunate, but given the fact that it was a credit card, I won't actually have to pay for the product until about the same time it arrives - if it does so in the next week or two. I also feel that I was provided a more than adequate explanation, information and the means to follow the progress of the cause of the delay, while waiting.

This, and the fact that they actually gave me and others who ordered via our user group a $200 discount leaves me still pretty much satisfied - assuming, of course, I receive the product in the next week or two. If I don't, I'll let you know.

As always, there are legitimate reasons for concern and complaints in this community of ours, but a credit card processed a couple of weeks too early is not one I'd put in that category. Your mileage may vary and I have no problem with that either.

There are a few people who have used paypal to buy things and have had problems with it like people not recieving the payment from them and them overcharging one person more than 200 pound .  :-)

Ann and A.Org is all places? But, for the matter I investigated a little and you are righ. There was a  badly put together announcement that made people believe that there wasn't gonna be a G4 Pegasus1, wich was latter more or less clarified. One just stops reading all of those posts on ANN wich are mainly flamewars. It was fun sometimes, but it's startin' to get boring. Not that it matter that much, I just can't trust people that made announcements in the past like " there's no May without April" or soemthing ;-)
