Title: Update: The Extreme Amiga 600 Upgrading Page
Post by: System on March 14, 2003, 09:01:08 PM
The Extreme Amiga 600 Upgrading Page (http://www.amiga600.de) has seen an extensive update last week. All sections have now been completed and further pictures added. This site documents a project to upgrade an Amiga 600 to the max and contains tons of information about the smallest Amiga. In English.

Very nice site and very helpful for those that have A600. From that page took the idea my brother how to  cool our beast (http://www.ck-infosysteme.de/A600/cooling.htm) ;-)

Yes, it is a cool little machine!

That's way I just got myself one just for fun. I think it will most of the time serve the purpose of just standing there but I still have a small HD around and have CD-ROM that connects via the PCMCIA (which is connected to my A1200)!

So once in a while it might be used.

I just like the tiny model but it's a shame that AGA was never used.

What I've always wanted to know is how to make that notebook 600.  There's some basic data on emugaming's site, but nothing with detail on how to do it.

I have a flaky Apollo 1230/40 at home, not in use - cos its flaky !
noticed the CPU is overclocked, wondering if some of those heatsinks and tiny fans might help.
Any one in UK have any idea where to get heatsinks like those on the A630's (http://www.ck-infosysteme.de/A600/images/apollocloseupbig.jpg) MACH chips ?

@agafaster

That fan looks like a chipset cooler.  You can get a set of chipset coolers for less than 10 US dollars. You will need a thermal pad or some heat sink compound as well. I dont know of any UK sources, but if you search for chipset coolers you should be ok. You might also look for something with ball bearing instead sleeve bearings because of reliability.

@KK (microwaves ?!)

I can probably source the CPU fan easily. it was the passive heatsinks on the MACH chips I was having trouble locating - the ones on the bottom of the image, in the PLCC sockets.

ta anyway !  :-D
