Amiga.org would like to state our appreciation for the continuing support of Elbox by way of their placement of advertisements on this site.

That says it all :-D

Good to see elbox back one of the best amiga expansions people. That genesi advert was so ugly im glad there is something to read when on main page :-D
-
Thx Elbox :-)
-
if you don't like the genesi ad, install a small
proxy(theres a few on aminet) and ban
the http://amiga.org/images/banners/genesi1.gif
file
:-D :lol:

@catohagen,
While true, I would like you to understand the consequences of such a recommendation. Amiga.org exists ONLY by the contributions we receive, along with the advertising revenue which pays for the servers we need to run this site.
By promoting the use of proxies to bypass our advertisements, you make it very difficult for us to succeed. If you don't like Genesi or Elbox, or ForeMatt, or whoever, simply ignore the banner. It's that simple, but don't go about telling people to disable the display of the advertisements.
-
@catohagen
Why?
I'm not a huge Genesi fan, but I'm perfectly capable of ignoring an advert. It's not somehow doing any harm just by sitting in the corner there - "removing" it yourself won't suddenly cause Genesi any harm :-)
Anyway, nice to see a few more ads round here.

@wayne

Do you get paid per user loading a.org, or
per click on the banner ? or a paid monthly fee ?
Im sorry....but I dont see the harm of just
dont load that image :-)
What about people who turn imageloading off ?
I usally surf with images off...
@Alx
nice avatar :-D
-
yes alx - that avatar is :-D :-D :-D

Ah man! Seeing Elbox ads just make me wish I had won the lottery! I sorely want a Mediator and one of thier snazzy tower cases for my A3k.
Q. What has six balls and screws you twice a week?
A. Powerball!

Nothing wrong with ad blocking software (if set up correctly the net becomes once again a nice place :-) )
Set it up to also remove the following "modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=" and bye bye Image-o-matic and donations and this sites main page looks a lot better.
-
I think he gets 1$ for each thousant image *loads*.
-
@Paul_Gadd
Why do you recommend getting rid of the donations bit. I know each to their own and all that, but i think thats just an insult, sorry.
-
Gotta love Ibrowse :-) -> Url prefs, add
http://amiga.org/#? - Image loading off
and thats even easyer that my suggested proxy
approach :)
-
@Nick
I do not recommend getting rid off the donations bit, only to remove it using ad blocking software (ie the users machine and not the website itself).

Lets see, you go around promoting ways to reduce the effectiveness of banner advertising on amiga.org; therefore, you want to reduce the value of our advertisement system.
Let's take this a step further, our advertising clients lose intrest because you don't like a particular advertiser. Advertisers pull away from Amiga.org. Amiga.org doesn't have enough money to pay for servers, mail-services, etc. Amiga.org becomes a nice blank white page that says, "This domain for sale," with some free-server pop-up advert to boot.
Don't say, "It's just one advertiser." Because advertisers all meet with each other at shows, conferences, and other kinds of meetings. Advertiser-A tells Advertiser-B and C that they were scammed by Amiga.org users, so the other advertisers pull away. That's how business works. Now would you please stop trying to kill this website?!!?
