fro some reason or other, any program which open a 16 bit window displays all the colours wrong. Any ideas before i re install everything?
-
Hold your horses, this isn't Microsoft Windows! :-D
Your colours are possibly being remapped wrong, quite likely if the software in question wasn't designed to run on a 16-bit screen. When you say '16 bit window' do you mean a window on the Workbench screen or a new, seperate screen? What programs are you using that cause this groovy, trippy lightshow? :-)

Nighlong does it, never used to (16bit 640by 480 is all i can select in rtg menu, this mode used to work fine) also in amp this happens.
I was just talking bout reinstallin p96 etc but i know what you talkin about with windows_ we had to re install xp cos it wouldn#t let us remove an old cable modem in device manager 'this device may be used to boot the system'. Yeah, except you just told me the device wasn#t working, so how could it? Dumb winboxes. Just read first news of next os codenamed longhorn. Search for it and you'll cry at how bloated its gonna be. It ises 3d graphics for layers. I thought xp was pointlessly flashy.....

Which video card are you using and what kind of screenmode does Nightlong need?
I've seen this on my Voodoo4 when playing Earth 2140. It requires an RGB screen and for some reason, I don't have any of those available on this card - I did on my Voodoo3.
-
nightlong requires PC mode if running on voodoo .
16bitPC , non pc mode will be psycadelic! , beyond that always remeber to check how much free mem u have..
cheers
-
xand:has nothing to do with RGB or not , its little endian vs big endian afaik! .
voodoo4 and 5 doesnt support em correctly, nightlong works on that board but !!!! earth 2140 doesnt work at all, only get crappy screen (psycadellic colors)
cheers

@lempkee
That was something I read in the docs, it seemed to make sense that the screenmode would look like a negative if I was using BGR rather than RGB.
Thanks for the info.
The odd part is that the videos from Earth 2140 work fine.

well i got the opposite - in amp using 24bit BGR works fine but normal 16 bit does not. 16bit PC modes just dont work.
