DCTC (Direct Connect Text Client) Amiga version released. It is released intended as NOT formally version! Beta testers are needed for some testing his work, so please, help me to debug it. As I test it, I can connect to some hubs, chat with other users in the hubs, etc... Now I need your help to test the fully functionally. TIA
How it works: (basically)
First of all, you need a list of all available HUBs, run: hublist >ram:HubList
each line looks like:
[DK]Moviezone©|moviezone.dyndns.dk|Min 60 GB. [MZ-Group]|507|||||
next, get a hub,(in this case: moviezone.dyndns.dk), chosse a nick, and you ip/host is needed too, then run:
dctc --nick=YOURNICK -a=YourHost/IP --hubip=moviezone.dyndns.dk (these are the basics)
Then if all goes Ok, you connect to the hub, some info is received from it (Read it!), and now you are ready to send the commands you want..
NOTE: be careful! you may will be banned if your connection/SharedBytes are not allowed! in this case use the command /CNX T3 to up your connection... and the command /OFFSET 1234567890 to up your shared bytes... (this for first test!)
REMEMBER to READ the DOCUMENTATION provided.
Finally, please tell me your experiences, you can do it at the forums of my site, or the ones from the news sites.

Best regards.

Oh.. yeaah. This is what I've always wanted :) Now I don't have to kick that PC on ever again ;) I even tried to port dctc quickly myself with GG, but got it done only partly. Now I'll go to test it :) Hope that someone will make gui for it too ;)

Well,i can try to make a gui if the file link weren`t breaked,so anyone can post me to the right direction?
Many thanks.

I verified the link was good before posting it. Try flushing your cache and downloading it again. If that doesn't work, try using something like DownloadResume or similar. Hope that helps.

If you're a half decent programmer, and want a MUI Direct Connect client written FOR AmigaOS rather than ported, you're welcome to the unfinished source of mine :)

That is awesome! It is a must application for our new Amigas :-D

briliant

Direct Connect is a superb tool if used correctly.
-
Excuse my ignorance ;-) but WTF is this exactly, and what does it do? :-?
-
I couldn't get it to work.... i tried logging onto a few different hubs, but I received a "mkdir failed" error each time.
Anybody else have any success?

its strange, the archive was deleted from the main USA mirror!, may by flood...
download it from another mirror -> http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/amiga/
Ami603: si necesitas cualkier cosa pa la gui ya sabes... :)

The mkdir command can be downloaded from http://ice.prohosting.com/dcr8520/mkdir.lha

¡Enhorabuena campeón! (Congratulations!)
Now I only need to hook up my Amigas to the ADSL in order to test it comprehensively... mmmm ;-)
