Title: The very-first iBrowse v2.3 review
Post by: AmiDelf on January 30, 2003, 12:05:21 AM
For those who dont know what iBrowse looks like, then you can visit www.amitopia.tk as I've put up a pre-review and 2 screenshots of my iBrowse v2.3 look.

It can be customized offcourse, so if you dont like what you see, its possible to turn the look totally. And.. I am actually writing this news on Ibrowse v2.3 Much, much better! The text field where I am writing is holding the text where it should, so the text dosent float out of the textbox area and more!...

Support Amiga, Support IOSPIRIT and offcourse the iBrowse developing team! Greetings from Amitopia.

Aye I've spent the last hour giving it some real hammering, looking for a site that can send SMS's to UK mobiles for free, and I found one that works so im dead happy, once less reason to use the PC :-)

Sorry to be off-topic...

@Wilse:

What do you mean by AudioEvolution finished?  Last version was 3.20 almost two years ago.  Did I miss something?

Back on topic, IBrowse 2.3 is very impressive for what the developers consider "minor" tweaks.  I don't regret paying the slightly high price tag at all :-)

I love it! This is a must thing to have! And for sure, I am glad I love Amiga more than anything else in the computing world.

PC's dont have such cute and fast web browsers. We have and what a small community too. I am impressed and iBrowse is one of the keys to understanding why Amiga is still alive today.

AmiDelf,

The screenshots look very nice, but I'm wondering: Is it possible to have the toolbar at the top instead of on the side?  On an 800 x 600 screen, having the toolbar on the side can be ... annoying.

Also, can you block unwanted pop-up windows with iBrowse?

On all versions of IBrowse including 2.3 you can put the toolbar either top, bottom, left or right. Same with the fast link buttons.

You can also move the location string either top or bottom, the transfer indicator to various locations, and the transfer animation to several
locations as well. So, you can basically set IBrowse for your individual taste.

It makes much more sense running it on a Classic Amiga for sure! Then you really gain speed. I've waited longtime for this product and now its here and I am 99,9% satisfies with it!

You know, seeing this makes me have a bit more faith in Hyperion and Eyetech with the AmigaOne. Here's some SOFTWARE! Granted, it's 68K, but this is what's coming with the OS and it looks GOOD. I like it alot. I think that I should download the demo and play with it abit. Kudos to the coders, 'cos it looks good. The last time I used an Amiga browser seriously, IBrowse had gone to the grave. This is good. I'd like to see more of it. Someone needs to do a review.  It's not much, but I would be satisfied if this was my browser. Anyone have any ideas on how resource hungry it is?

Allmost nothing. I happily runs on a plain 68020 cpu, but recommended is 68030 and up. This is the fastest web browser. Order it! I would! I had the ibrowse2key, but I will order it for just supporting them!

I am typing this message with Ibrowse v2.3! Much, Much better!
