Title: Trust fund for Bernie Meyer and Harald Frank/H&P
Post by: GadgetMaster on December 19, 2002, 08:56:22 PM
A trust fund has been setup for Bernie Meyer and Harald Frank/H&P regarding the current Amithlon dispute.

The funds will be released when Bernie Meyer is removed from any threat of legal action from H&P/Haral Frank and vice versa, and both sides are allowed to continue separate developments and releases of their respective products. Any licensing issues are the responsibility of each side and are not up for debate in this situation

oh good, maybe I get to post first, for once.

This should not be news, except as part of a case study report on the raving fanaticism of a few members of the amiga cult.

I guess fools and their money are soon parted, as the saying goes.

Haral Frank is a complete w**ker and deserves no respect or support from the amiga community.

I use Amithlon but would i donate any money? NO

From an Amiga fan of 14? 15?  years - I agree, it's lunacy.

In the event of the two parties agreeing that "Hey, there's enough moola there to buy out our differences", how is it to be divided? Is there to be a court case to settle that aspect?

The guy who came up with this idea was, somewhat naively,  just  trying to make  a sincere effort to limit the fragmentation of this bickering community.

This news item only reflects the current sad state of affairs and the feelings of ordinary users.

The proposed solution has no chance of ever becoming a reality as I think this community is at such a stage where they can easily part with their scathing opinions and flames, but it would be like trying to squeeze blood from a stone trying to part them from their money....again!,  so you don't have to worry about that.

What SHOULD BE and what IS are two different things, so this IS news whether you like it or not :-P

I think you've nailed it there. The effort is genuine, but naive.

Oh I don't know. The coupon scam worked, didn't it? :-P

The reason this won't work is that it isn't thought out. Beyond throwing money at the problem in a random fashion, there's no plan of action at all. Darren (HammerD), talks about a "parting of the ways", but doesn't seem to have any idea of what that would entail exactly. Without showing more understanding of the objectives, the initiative is doomed to fail.

It may eventually prove to be a scam but as yet, that is not the case.
