MacOnLinux is now available for AmigaOne. MacOnLinux emulates a PowerMac, on which MacOS8.x und 9.x currently may be installed. MacOSX support is now being worked on.
Operational Requirements:
* AmigaOne with current PPC Boot BIOS
* Voodoo3 graphics card (ATi Radeon hasn't been tested yet)
* Debian-Linux for AmigaOne
* Kernel and Kernel module for Debian-LinuxPPC from Ross Vumbaca

Anyone know how you would install this onto an AmigaONE? from what I read in another thread I should have my AmigaONE by end of next week. Running MoL would be a good stopgap until OS4 arrives.
On that note, I wonder if it would be possable to dual-boot with Linux+MoL and OS4?

No idea, sorry. Hopefully it'll be explained in the download.

Now that would be nice.

MacOS on an AmigaOne...? Maybe even MacOS X on top of AmigaOS eventually.... This is really cool stuff...I don't think I can now NOT buy one!
Apple have made some great hardware since '97, but I do get a bit misty eyed for a time when there were 5 or 6 brands of Mac-clone, and Motorola were right in there making their clones and keeping the PPC way out ahead of the Pentium.
Running MacOnLinux is hardly the same thing, but this would be a great story to hit the mainstream press with....

GIven that MOL can be used to run OSs other that MacOS, we could in theory run Linux on the A1, then OS4 in a MOL session (?), until MOL is available for OS4. Perhaps there might need to be a bit of tweaking of MOL to make sure OS4 can see the ROMs (I have no ida how MOL works btw.)
But the question then is: can you run two MOL sessions simultaneously? You could have OSX & OS4 both running through Linux if it's possible.

This is very promising, and running Mac on Linux with the AmigaOne could prove to be real fun! I would love to play the Mac-version ofJedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast on AmigaOne, by having MacOS X on Linux. I would wait until MacOS X is completely supported and can be run through Linux. This is great stuffs! :-) It's only get better and better!
This is very exciting news! :-) Really great stuffs!

Actually MAC OS X DOES WORK. Stroll over to the MOL homepage and you'll see that you can use OS X Jaguar. Since I have a Mac with OS X installed I haven't bothered to install LinuxPPC to test it but I am curious if someone with an AmigaOne would test this out and send some screenshots

I really do believe you. Anyway, this is really promising, and very cool stuffs! I have already ordered the 700Mhz A1G3XE mainboard from the Norwegian Datakompaniet in Trondheim, and i believe i may get it at the end of next week, as what rumours say :-)
Great to see a lot of people still beliving in the Amiga :-) I never gave up the Amiga! I will NEVER give it up! :-) The Amiga is the thing, and will ALWAYS be!

That really is good news. Having Mac OS on my AmigaOne will be fanastic as I use macs at work. In fact, it'd save me £600 ish - I wouldn't have to purchase a Mac.
Saving £600 will allow me to upgrade my G3SE to G4XE :-D
Speaking of my G3SE, when is it going to arrive? I've been phoning home all week to see if "any parcels arrived for me?" :-) It must arrive next week, surely. Perhaps they were sent out to all the distributors first? Can you guess I'm get impatient? :-)
@Helgis75
I though the G3XE weren't available till January time?

I know that Eyetech actually said that the 700Mhz G3-XE model was expected for January, but it's possible that this may arrive at the same time as the two other models instead. Anyway, it doesn't matter if i get the G3-XE in january. It's also the time when the OS4 is finished, and i will have it for FREE, cause i have pre-order the motherboard already :-)

Don't expect games to work. I don't know definatively that they don't work, but getting the OS to boot, and getting hardware 3d accelaration so modern games work are usually two very different steps....
Until someone confirms that games work, I would assume that they do not.

OS 4 requires a dongle. Even though you may in fact have that dongle on your A-one, the MOL box, if its a virtual machine, that virtual machine would have to have access to the dongle.
That being the case, you would have to have a special version of MOL coded for the purposes of running OS 4...
Does this make sense...if I am wrong someone correct me, I am just thinking out loud.
It would be much better, if instead, OS 4 was coded so that it could run on any version of MOL, but then again, that would mean OS 4 would run on more PPC hardware than the A-One so I don't see that happening.

To me this seem to be old news (http://amiverse.homeip.net/mod.php?mod=gallery&op=gallery&gallery_id=1&album_id=1)...

Is there any chance of lawsuit from Apple about the "End User License Agreement" problem?
What happen if Apple win in the court?
Is there any list of compatible/tested applications?
What about Adobe Photoshop, Typesetting, Macromedia etc?
-
I think you're right there MarkTime...
MoL for the A-1 probably has to be coded
specially for the dongle.

A program to run Amiga OS 4 under Linux should be called AmigaOnLinux ... aol :D
