OSNews features an interview (http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=2345) with Nicholas Blachford of Genesi, introduction and three exclusive screenshots of MorphOS.

X86 version would be nice...
-
Mac support should be good. Can't wait!

Well, everyone knows how I feel about MOS, but I'll give credit where it's due. They do have a _very_ nice looking desktop environment with Ambient. Good job to their graphic/gui designers/

Well, these guys are tempting me to buy MorphOS. I think I might just go for it. It is real and looks good and if it does half the things they say it does...well hell that's just wonderful....
-
Well the icons sure look nice. But other than that, it doesn't look very impressive.
-
It sure looks good...
-
Nice screenshots and decent interview.
I especially like the icons. :-)

@wilse
Agreed. I'd go as far as to say that this could repair some of the damage that has been done over the last 2 weeks or so.
Although it is not enough to get me to buy it, it's good to see a well worded piece like this. A lot of time and effort has gone into getting the Pega/Morph this far and it would be a shame if it's potential market withered due to ill-chosen words of a few.........

Overall I think this is a good and informative article. Next to his valuable talents for Genesi, I also believe Nicholas is also a nice person. He has always been pleasant to deal with or talk to. :-)
And did I mention those icons are very well drawn. (The AmigaOS4 vs MorphOS part was misleading though, but I have already reponded to that @ OSNews)

Yes lad,
She is a excellent sight to behold...
But if she ain't got an excellent personality to go with it...
She ain't excellent.
I agree with the beauty of the desktop.
But when I try to display the device list...
I want to see the device list.
Not a crashing terror.
Much too unstable for my likes.
Now to someone that just wants to look at it all day without actually using it, I say go for it!

Hi John,
I'd go as far as to say that this could repair some of the damage that has been done over the last 2 weeks or so.
I agree, *some* of it. :-)
Although it is not enough to get me to buy it,
Me either. At least, not yet. ;-)

100% agree. Some people really ought to show a bit more responsibility and restraint. :-?

In the PDF they released a few weeks back they say there are some advantages to using the PPC (context switching speed?) that aren't there on the x86. Maybe the OS4 team could comment on that- apparently this is something OS4 does very quickly (faster than QNX apparently)

My guess that would be something to do with 68k and X86 interactions (refer to AROS vs Amithlon issues).
“Context switching speed” shouldn't be a big issue when applying brute force solutions. Do you know the link for the said PDF file?

Now that's what I call an excellent standard layout. Lean and clean. I don't know whether Matt Chaput is still working for Hyperion or not (from the latest Amiga screenshots, I guess not, which is a shame), but you can bet Ambient has a clear edge over Workbench. And you know how a good default layout can make a definitive impression in the average consumer's mind.
