Genesi has released a full (at least current) feature list of MorphOS which you can read here (http://www.blachford.info/morphos/morphos-full-features-list.txt).
-
Uuuuuuppppppsss
"AmigaInc&Partners" .......
My mistake, no offence meant ;-)
-
Are you so lost for words that you couldnt supply
a preamble with the link?
A link and a pair of smileys is a bit poor fare :-)
-
@DaveP
Granted, it wasn't the best example of "how to submit a news story" but a lot of the times, people don't bother to read our instructions and simply presume that if they send us a link, we'll bother to sort it all out and write something.
By all reports, the news submission should have been deleted with the obligatory "bad puppy" note.

-- DaveP - don't be pedantic.
Sometimes the forest can be beautiful if you'll stop bitching about all the damned trees. :-)
-
LOL!
-
@Wayne
Wuff wuff :-P
But really what more could I have written ? Copying the
original post didn't seem o.k. for me.
-
How about whats there now? :-D
-
For featurelist junkies:
AmigaOS4 features in PDF format (http://polarboing.com/div/amigaos4/OS4Features.pdf)
;-)
-
Now were looking at PDF'ed copy of their features webpage. This is great for a 3 second read but I want more! Sorry but I like the Morph presentation better.
-
...ahh the irony!
What you are looking at on the MOS side is a PDF of a document written on a Mac.
Oh but it is put into neat little categories!!!!
Considering we all had to wait until after the release
of MOS1 before getting ANY useful information
let alone info more detailed than the OS4 spec list
perhaps you will do Hyperion the same courtesy?
-
*Yawn*..... next.
-
Hello Dave,
... Ahh irony. You have to love it. Trust me I will extend all the courtesy due to Hyperion. All I'm saying is I like what I saw and I can't wait till we get the same type of feature list from Amiga Inc/ Hyperion.
-
I'd rather we had more screenshots than a neater featurelist. But what I want most of all is a message from Ben saying: "Yesterday we booted up AOS4 on the AmigaOne, and Heretic 2 ran at a steady 50 fps in 1600x1280". I guess I might have to wait a while longer before that happens, though...
Anyway, I see they are bundling Turboprint with MOS. I must say that strikes me as a very good idea. Hey, Hyperion, why not go one better and *incorporate* it into AmigaOS? I'm less crazy about the way they seem to use MUI for everything, though. Not that it matters, since I'm not getting MOS anyway...;-)

Amiga Inc have had an OS4 feature list on their website for many months now.
-
Oh, please make an effort guys,
not even a little positive remark like
"looks nice, good job" ?
I think it's a good thing for the amiga community,
we finally have a new system ready.
Of course, I'm open to OS4 too.
But why only try to say bad things about it,
or bring back OS4 in the discussion ?
We'll see OS4 later, when it's ready, let the developers
work...
Anyway, MOS can work on AmigaOne, right ?
(And I hope OS4 will work on my pegasos too...
it will anyway one way or another))
Why not be positive ? It's a good thing because it's
a new amiga-related product that finally made it.
Even if you're not a big morphos fan...
Why not see the positive aspect of all things ?
(but I know amiga.org guys are generally rather closed
to morphos, for different reasons)

"not even a little positive remark like "looks nice, good job" ?"
You had one of those.
"I think it's a good thing for the amiga community,"
Your opinion.
Of course, I'm open to OS4 too.
"But why only try to say bad things about it,
or bring back OS4 in the discussion ?"
See on ANN where MOS fans bring OS4 in the discussion.
"We'll see OS4 later, when it's ready, let the developers
work..."
Anyone here stopping them?
"Anyway, MOS can work on AmigaOne, right ?"
No idea.
"(And I hope OS4 will work on my pegasos too...
it will anyway one way or another))"
Oh so you would resort to piracy?
"(but I know amiga.org guys are generally rather closed
to morphos, for different reasons)"
I think you are overreacting.
-
Welcome back kronos. I haven't seen you around for a while.
Reading posts from Ainc and Co just isn't the same without your criticism ;-)
-
DaveP: I'm not really overreacting. I'm not
agressive, not saying bad about some people.
Just that I'm tired to notice that people are
always making remarks according to their camp...
(OS4 fans have to say things to lower the importance
of the MOS news, and vice versa)
I mean, it's not b/c some MOS fans behave badly that
some OS4 fans have to behave badly (and the contrary).
But nothing really bad happens here...
It's just that, everyone should respect the work
of the others and appreciate what is done by all
parties...
-
"I mean, it's not b/c some MOS fans behave badly that some OS4 fans have to behave badly (and the contrary)."
Well I dont see anyone here behaving badly ( apart from me deliberately baiting Kronos in post #2 ). But I'm afraid your wisdom does not stretch to others.
Every positive AOS and A1 thread on Amiga.org, Moobunny, ANN, Amiga-news.de is full of MOS fans twittering on about off topic subjects and flaming AOS and A1 and visa-versa. Funnily enough both
of them claim "this is a MOS/AOS thread so get out" and equally "this is a public forum don't be so facist" whether they are the culprit or the victim in a particular instance.
I don't see this as particularly Amiga community behaviour, I see it as simple tribal warfare played out in schoolyards and on battlefields for millenia.
Shame, but life. Also a shame that the interview of Nicholas was so dry - not Nicholas' fault I would guess but the editing staff.
But because I won't buy MorphOS because of self justification repeated ad-nauseam before you will probably initially see the previous paragraph as being because I am "pro AOS".
A lot of people jumped on the MOS bandwagon a few years back because they "hated Amiga Inc" for some reason ( because I suppose they did not like the DE (mis)direction ) and now are too prideful and back down or even deliver anything less than pure vitriol ( Amino clows/HYPErion etc etc ).
But then a lot of people jumped on the AOS bandwagon because they cant stand Viscorp, DCE, PhaseV and Ralph.
Somewhere along the line for some people it got a bit too personal.
Seems you aren't one of those people. Respect.
-
Is there any support for "Sound Blaster Live 5.1" and "Nvidia Geforce 4 TI" in MOS1.1?
-
re*cough*ompile*cough*...
-
Up until that stupid April crap I was happy for whatever-they-are-called-this-week to be releasing their stuff. But after all the crap from people in that company since then, the damned unprofessional aspect of it all, no way. (well, ignoring BB posting confidential emails on online forums and all that other unprofessional stuff that has come from that camp - just let your technology and software speak for itself, don't resort to slagging off the other side all the time).
Anyway, people have been asking for a featurelist from the MorphOS camp for months now... so it is about time it came out. They could have explained how they did things more clearly, but it does look like morphos has some nice things in it. Luckily the desktop is skinable though, 'cos the default look sucks.
now it is time to wait to see how amigaos4 compares. I just hope that it comes out in the next month or so, any more delays and it is beyond a joke. but it is looking good at the moment.
-
Well I like that list, it seems with what I always wanted. (BTW I`m AmigaOS 4.0 pro)
I hope Y TT E P I O N :-) will make a list like that.
Will morphOS run on AmigaOne? (I want to know what my options are, from AmigaOS 4.0 I know I have no hardware options other than AmigaOne, well anyway I`m going to buy an AmigaOne G4 seeing that AmgaOS will run only there and there are no pegsG4 announced yet so I can compare their prices.)
Please make a hypertext version the txt one sux. (I prefer it than the pdf)
-
Hey, this should stop some of the whinging. ;-)
Looks impressive.
-
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I must have missed it so:
Is FastFileSystemII for MOS the same as FFS2 for AOS? My (perhaps mistaken) impression was that it was being developed by Amiga, but maybe it already existed? Maybe it's even an open-source thing?
Just wondering :-?
