RetroSystem is featuring a line of projects for modding old computer and console cases with modern PC motherboards to marry the two technologies together. They've got a line of their own projects online, with reasonably complete documention on modding an Amiga 1000, Nintendo (NES) and even an Atari 2600! There are also links being added daily to projects for modding an SX64 case, a Classic Mac case, and some projects that have to be seen to be believed! (V8 Engine and a Hellraiser Puzzle Box?!)

That was very interesting . . . :-)
Thanks for posting it. I have a friend who may just do A 1000 job.

This article makes me want to get a A1000 motheboard and mount it in a new case with a window mod and neon lights. Instead of a monitor , I'll have it hooked up to a giant plasma T.V. with the original
A1000 "marble Madness" as the demo.
:-D :-D

No! Don't even think about modding an original A1000 case! No! No! No! No!
-
Aaaarghh! I can't believe people are putting PCs into A1000 cases.... just.... GAAAAHHH! These people don't deserve to own the A1000.
Whats even worse is that guy RUINING a perfectly good SX-64! These machines are highly sought after collectors items! They weren't made in huge quantities, and he's just ripped it all out and put a PC in! UNBELIEVABLE! :-o

OMG, you don't mod a SX64 to a standard PC. I seriously hope that this SX64 was broken already.
The 'Brazil-type' typewriter was very cool though.
-
Heresy! an A1000 is a collector's computer!
This makes me sick and angry... :-(
-
Clearly ImageFX for OS4 isnt taking up enough of Kermit's time ;-)
-
The fact that you people are getting so bent out of shape by this is really kind of scary. I'm reminded of the William Shatner, SNL skit.
-
No. The SX-64 worked fine before he ruined it...
@Wayne
hey, the SX-64 was only made in limited quantities. It is a sought after item by collectors (i'd love to have one). Plus, its really cool :-)
To me, its comperable to taking a mint original E-Type Jaguar, and putting the engine and interior from nissan micra in it! :-o

Then I can only submit that in my eyes, you have a very tilted idea of what's important in this world.

Well, as long as it's cases from broken computers I don't see the harm...
Besides, desktop cases are sooo much better looking than your average tower!

Hey, some people love classic cars, some people love their vinyl collection, some people are completely mental over star trek, others love antique furniture.
In this big 'old world we live in, one mans cool is another mans sad.
I love classic computers. Each one is unique, and most have interesting stories behind them of young enterprising souls trying their luck in the "new" world of home computers. I find the histories of the computers fascinating, and I don't care if other people think thats "sad". I like to restore the machines, and learn how they work, and learn the history of them. I think its sad to shove "just another clone" machine inside it.
This is my current collection, btw:

Butchers!!!!
you shouldn´t do this to amigas or any other computers for that matter.
the typewriter and V8 was cool
Why dont use a microwaveowen as a case or a refrigerator or washingmachine.
Or a pc in a Coca Cola can.
