Dear Fellow Sceners,
We will keep the upcoming information as short and painless as possible:
Due to irreconcilable personal differences within the main organizer team, the Mekka & Symposium 2003 WILL NOT TAKE PLACE. Yes, we're serious.
Some of you will shout "NO, you simply can't do that!". Believe us, it was a hard decision for us, too -- but in the end, we had to make it. If you are interested in some more explaining info, read the next few lines.
More info on ms.demo.org (http://ms.demo.org/).

All good things come to an end someday.. I'm just hoping the same doesn't happen to Assembly.. :-(
-
Why don't you guys just take it outside, knock seven bells of crap out of each other, go back inside and sort out your differences?
Just a thought,
Skippy
-
Why is it cancelled anyway? (I'm not into the whole demo scene 'thing'). Just plain old quarrels?
-
Well if they're anything like me, you throw a massive tantrum, chuck loads of toys out of your pram, go sulk for a couple of days, then calm down and take a more methodical approach to the situation.

Sad to know this.:-(
I'm not anymore involved in wolrd of sceners, but the MS was impressive.
And always interested by great guys who are coding Miggy like gods.
I was personnaly at the MS 2k-1 for the wild...
Is there any chance to see it again?
Things aren't eternal, but it's hard to stop the fun(especialy with Migouse).

LOL good to see you back. :-D

A lot of the organizers from MS, and other great parties, are organizing a new alternative to take off where MS left. http://breakpoint.untergrund.net
About why they cancelled it, here's what KB has said:
"Ok, this is by no means an official standpoint (!), but maybe this clears a few things up:
We had a certain "tension" within the main organizing team since years. There always were personal differences between the most important MS orgas that seemed almost unresolvable, but in the last years we all tried to forget that just for a few days because there were more important things: MS and what it meant to the scene and to us.
Sadly a few things happened during the last few months which make it impossible for a few of the main orgas to ever work with the other few again.
Of course it would be possible to hold a demo party with only the one or the other half, but it definitely won't be an MS anymore. Our "success" was largely due to the fact that we were an experienced team of dedicated demosceners, everyone with his own skills in his department and a strong commitment to what he's doing at the party.
Whatever half of the main orgas "we" would have to "cut off", this definitely won't be the case anymore.
Thus the decision to let MS die. Even if there would be a party at Fallingbostel next easter, it wouldn't be an MS, and it's better to have NO party than one that carries an old name but sucks. Look at Razor/S!P and the likes, you all here know that *g*
Anyway, now to the "good" news:
Letting MS die was no easy decision. In fact, there's no single person which is happy about that (except maybe some of our parents :), we all are seriously hurt and we also know what hole we're tearing into the scene by stopping to hold one of the most important demo parties ever. And most of us definitiely want to go to a party next easter or even organize one.
For this reason, various organizers of various german scene parties are sitting together (ok, on IRC :) at this very moment, planning to hold a party somewhere else in Germany next easter.
This will of course also be no MS, but all of the people involved are former orgas of MS or other parties, all of them knowing what MS meant: Sceners only, really multiplatform, noncommercial, committed orgas, boozing meadow for hjb/mfx, biiiig screen and PA and hopefully the general mood and the people.
There's nothing actual to tell about yet, but an announcement will be made as soon as we've got evidence that the plan will work.
In the meantime, go to altparty/TUM/etc and have fun, ok? The scene will definitely not die."
