The latest news (http://www.med.uk.com/amiga.htm) has been posted not only in the newsgroup, but at their MED Soundstudio website (http://www.med.uk.com/) as well. Orders to destroy all the source was mentioned.
-
Wow~ :-o Octamed is such a sweet music tracker.... Sucks to see them going downward. I will just have to use Cyber-Tracker for Commodore 64 and bust out 3 sound SID channels! Woooooooo! :-D
-
...As it has been now for years... only now its official.
Should have been buried and forgotten long ago.
-
I've revoted my comments, coz I'll get my butt kicked.
This sucks, I'm leaving it there.
I've been a very big fan of Octamed ever since it was introduced: My "preferred" tracker, to say.
To the developers, "Cazzo"

Orders to destroy all the source was mentioned.
Doh! why do they have to do that? What if someone wants to develop it further? Are they stupid?
-
@Dagon
I think it is only refering to the the sources that the current "developers" have, not the orginal sources from the first program.
Have a look on ann.lu it had a report there about it
-
It's a shame it has to belike this but we really DO need to get hold of some of the industry standards, programs like CueBass, Reason, Hallion & the like.
I know it won't happen over night but it does need to happen (You know, the killer app thing ;-) )
Anyway, R.I.P OctaMed SoundStudio, may the pieces of music you have helped many talented (& untalented) producers create live long into the future even if their Daddy cannot.

Well this (among a few other things) makes me less enthusiastic to go towards OS4/MorphOS. Yes, I'm sure that OSSv1.03c will be made to run on OS4/MorphOS using NallePuh, but the lack of MIDI capability is a serious problem for me.
Sadly, lack of a decent MIDI tracker/sequencer means my A1200T will probably see more usage than an A1/Pegasos.

umm This news sux
I was really looking forward to new version for the next gen Amiga.
Hmm can't Amiga inc do something on this? great software like this deserves to go on and can only help the user base.
Its not always ports we want ya know, updates to fine examples of current Amiga software to is big steps in the right direction.
-
mmmmm yeah it sux but nothing says they won't think of supporting OS4 *IF* the user base was big enough.
This just says to me they have dropped the 'classic' Amiga because the guy(s) coding V2 'gave up'....
-
Why can't another team port this to AmigaOS? Just because one team failed doesnt mean we have to give up entirely. The only problem we have is that we dont have many (or any) coders who can spend a fair chuck of their time on this.

It seems it contains proprietary pieces of code,
so it cannot be made public.

Hi Zadoc,
Sadly, lack of a decent MIDI tracker/sequencer means my A1200T will probably see more usage than an A1/Pegasos.
I'm in the same boat.

I`ve e-mailed Amiga as per the post on the RBF Octamed website to see if they`re is anything they can do - I really really don`t want to see this application die - its an Amiga App through and through and is worth fighting for - someone must be able to port this to AmigaOne/OS4.0 - I know of no sequencers/trackers that are to be available!
Lets not give up on this
-
Hi Rudei,
> I`ve e-mailed Amiga......
> ....Lets not give up on this
Which e-mail address did you send to & I'll do likewise?
-
@Wilse
I e-mailed it to Fleecy Moss,
Fleecy@amiga.com.
He did, after all, welcome us at the WOASE to e-mail him if we have any issues... he is very busy though so I`m not expecting a reply just thought I`d bring the matter to Amiga`s attention as I`m sure countless other users have.

Please keep this tracker alive!!! I REALLY hate to see it go, after I spent a lot on working songs. I was also looking forward to see new features, new plug-ins, even for new AmigaOne platform. Please don't destroy the source!
Man, I hate to see it go....
:-(
-
I e-mailed it to Fleecy Moss,
Cheers. I've just done likewise.
-
Orders to destroy all the source was mentioned.
This means those as*holes are evil...
Why the heck cant they make it open source instead of destroying it?. :-? :-?
-
I e-mailed it to Fleecy Moss,
As did I and I've just received a very prompt & positive reply - which was nice! :-) :-) :-)

I sent an email off as well. I cut my teeth with music on OctaMED. The best times of my computing life were behind my A500 with Kick 2.04, 2MB chipram, 2 floppy drives, MegaLoSound digitizer and OctaMED 4.0
Please let OctaMED live!!
