According to the MacOnlinux website (http://maconlinux.net/news.html), it is now possible to run MacOS X within MOL. Both MacOS 10.1 and 10.2 are supported. The new MOL version also contains support for little endian (remote) X displays. A couple of performance improvements have also gone into this release.

This is good news.
I said some time ago I wouldn't buy a PPC (A1 or pegasos) system unless it either (a) had a minimum of 50,000 users and a thriving software market, or (b) I was able to run AmigaOS 4, MorphOS AND MacOS X on it.
This development means (b) is no longer beyond the bounds of possibility, if not quite there yet. MorphOS reportedly works on the A1, though it is unclear if this will remain the case on the new BIOS, or if MorphOS will be available to buy separately from a Pegasos system.
I'm afraid (a) is still as unlikely as ever.

So far I understand (from various sources) that the A1 can run:
AmigaOS4
Linux
MorphOS
Mac OS X (via MOL)
Interesting :-)

Well, sort of.
MacOS X could be run (via MOL) if it wasn't for Apple's EULA. Personally, I could live with that, because if I spend the money to buy MacOS X, I'll run it on whatever I bloomin' well like.
MorphOS is another matter. We still don't know if it will run on the BIOS Hyperion are said to have "fixed", and we don't know if it will be made available for sale on its own (i.e. not tied to a Pegasos system).
Thendic have said AOS4 will run on Pegasos, but unless things change that would have to be a pirate version, which is unacceptable from my PoV.

Not fixed, ported. And strictly speaking it's not a BIOS: those only exist on x86 machines. Everyone else has firmware (apparently that's the fashionable word muttermuttermutter). Sorry, rant. But yes, you're right (this bit applies to the whole post).

Hi
What about BSD / Darwin?
Both PEGASOS and APPLE Mac HW can run BSD and / or Darwin. Is it possible to run BSD on AmigaOne?
There is a version of the "dead" BeOS that run on top of Apple / BeBox PowerPC. Is this compatible wtih AmigaOne?
Thank's.

That's a question with the BeUnited folks me thinks... let me ask them and I'll get back to this post!

I believe that If I had to install MOL and OSX, I will had a very slow OSX (especially with G3).
But, to tell you the truth I need (for my job) .doc and .xls. If I have a hd with OS4 and another (or partitioning) with Linux running Open Office I think that I have in one machine (without any emulation, meaning natively!) OS4, and the M# extensions I need.
Please, If I am wrong correct me. I want to know that because I will buy an A1!
Thanks, Kostas

The new Bios for the AmigaOne is based on PPCBoot, a GPL based project.
Full source-code of that is available.
There is therefore no impediment to get other operating system to run on that hardware.

IMO this is good news for alternative PPC platforms like the AmigaOne. At least this option offers people an important, much needed alternative, during the transistional period when there will be only few AmigaOS4 software titles available.
