Brainless Americans, they are killing their own companies. Oh well, it will only benefits countries outside the US in the long term.
At least MS doesn’t maintain 1 HW vendor for their OS, unlike Apple’s 1 OS = 1 HW structure.
Hypocrisy sticks like sore thumb.
IF Floridians didn’t like MS, why didn’t they selected Apple box instead of MS vanilla box?

And you would prefer they continue running roughshod over every other tech company (even their allies) who create competing products? Yeah, I get your point, but neutering M$ will actually benefit companies everywhere, even those inside the US (maybe like Amiga Inc? ;-).

M$ have been making peripherals for years and introduced a complete hardware system (the XBox) last year. I suspect they've already contemplated making their own PC motherboards, except that there are already so many mothererboard companies and not much money to be made. If they could find a way, I'm sure they'd do it...and to the eventual detriment of the other manufacturers and OEM's.

And what would all those HW vendors do without MS?

Yea!
Hmm.. I f "I" had 80 billion dollars, I would spend
a mere one billion to provide us advanced users
with an affordable hardware/software solution
which would bring back the excitement of the
mid-80's :-D
"Eh! Who are you guys? Lemme' go, let me go!
Ok, ok, ok I Promise I will use MS software, wot,
I hafta use their hardware too?"
Sorry, delusions of MS cops... :-?

It's not that we want to kill our own companies, but with capitalism, competition is good -- and the anti-trust laws attempt to create a somewhat level playing field, at least between American companies.
