Title: Sendo publish full press release on their site
Post by: GadgetMaster on July 30, 2002, 07:43:53 PM
The press release that was read out at the Amiwest show and subsequently appeared on Amiga Inc's site has now been published in its entirety on Sendo's website.

This is an indication that Sendo are taking their partnership with Amiga more seriously than some others have done in the past.

AFAIK, this is the first time that a PDA or cellphone manufacturer announces a partnership with Amiga like this. More funds for Bill...

Sorry, but...  does it mean that this device will be released with AmigaDE pre-loaded on it, or does it only suggest that it will be able to run it ?

Snoqualmie, WA (USA), - Birmingham England - Amiga, Inc. and Sendo announced today that Amiga Anywhere and Amiga Anywhere content will be shipped with, and extended content made available for the Sendo multimedia Z100 Smartphone.

It's in the first line of the press release....it says "will be shipped with"  (I know, doesn't say installed, but that's kinda implied) :-)

Amiga Anywhere Applications will be available for the Sendo Z100 via download as well as by SD based Game Card's known as Amiga Anywhere Entertainment Packs.

AA is unabiguosly pre loded:

What i think it means is it only runs a player so games/appz made for AmigaDE can be launched not the AmigaDE itself! most likely it will run some type of Win.

Living in the UK I have to say that Sendo are not a name I am familiar with, but it sounds good. Bill has obviously been spending a lot of time here, as Dixons and O2 got a mention in his speech at Sacramento.  If a similar announcement goes up on the O2 site I will be very impressed.

According to Bill in his speech, it should appear within the next couple of months.
Wonder if TV will be next on o2's part about it in some form as they do feature there alot.

Hi
Sendo is backed by a super giant Chinese Group: CTT/Haier. Haier is the top 5 refrigerator vendor in USA.
IF succesful, perhaps they can create cheap Internet access device for China market using Sendo phone/PDA based on Amiga DE AMP  (Asymmetrical Multi Processing) capability.

I think you are right... it sounded to me like it ran some kind of windows in background.
