Title: AmigaOne Draw Winner Announced at AmiWest Show
Post by: GadgetMaster on July 29, 2002, 07:33:32 AM
Even though the minimum amount of coupon sales for the draw was not reached a name was randomly picked as a goodwill gesture.

Bill McEwen announced the winner during his speech at the show.

And the lucky winner is ................

John Hindel (Spelling?)
of Mosley, Lancashire , England

If you are an Amiga.Org reader please identify yourself :)

Here's the link to the MP3 of the speech  BillMcEwenSpeech.mp3 (http://www.stricq.com/pictures/amiwest2002/BillMcEwenSpeech.mp3) (Around 8 Mb)

I'm not clear on one point (an 8mb mp3 is not a convenient thing to download on a 56k modem). Since the required number of vouchers was not met, does the lucky Mr. Hindel actually get a prize?

I think it was said that an additional $100.00 off would be the prize.

Allow me to clarify the point as I have broadband and I heard the whole speech.

The announced winner will recieve an AmigaOne system with OS4  pre-installed.

The draw was made even though the minimum limit for the draw was not reached.

This is a goodwill gesture on the part of Amiga Inc.

I hope I was able to make it clearer this time :-)

Cool.  I have broadband too but all of the mp3's download like they are on 56k so I quit trying......

I listened to the one from Alan Redhouse and I recall hearing him ask about his prize of $100.00 off above anything, and that's why I assumed that.  Thanks for the info.

The $100 mentioned was a prize in a seperate draw for banquet
attendees at the show second prize was $50.  Bill joked that the
recipients had to spend the money at the show.  I'm sure they did just
that.

Can someone re-edit the MP3 files as there is "a lot" of "white space" in the originals which does not add any value.

If the "white space" was cut out it would probably make them half the size which we all will benefit from.

Regards
Darren

And what a longwinded and tedious diatribe! That speech was virtually devoid of content..... a very COLOUR-less apologetic and repeitious whine! The applause (or lack thereof)  reflected the very small number of people who showed up.

Mcewen's disrespect for the English language also ticked me off.... will there ever be a computer platform that can spell properly???????

Seriously, 68 minutes of `we're sorry' and `this slide won't work' and `you guys are the community' isn't something I would want to begin my marketing campaign. Whatever happened during the 5 minutes of silence had better be pretty damned impressive or Amiga is sunk.

I'll see what I can do later tonight when I get home from work.

@ RedWarrior,
Are you always such a pessimest?   :-)

On a side note, does anyone know what information was contained in the 5 minute audio blackout???
