Subject: Amiga club membership
Just a short note to those who have asked if we will be taking orders for Amiga's clib membership and voucher scheme.
We are fully behind the Amiga Inc membership scheme and think in the form it was conceived (payments direct to Amiga - material straight from Amiga) it will represent good value for money to the end purchaser.
However we've talked through the actual logistics of taking payments in UKP/euro and converting to USD to send to Amiga, the complications of probably having to charge and pay UK VAT, and the potential problems of exchange rate movements between issuing and redemption of the voucher part. When you add in bank charges and our own costs, and the fact that it is only a very short period promotion we really don't think it is viable or sensible for us to take memberships subscriptions on Amiga's behalf.
That means if you have been holding on anticipating that you would buy your membership from us - don't delay any more. Order it directly from Amiga Inc using a credit card, or by bank transfer, or by purchasing and sending an international money order from your post office.
Thanks for your understanding.

There are still a few issues to be finalised but these are relatively easy to sort out (because all the fund transfers will be in 'bulk' and therefore the charges will be minimal in proportion to the funds transferred). We (and other dealers) will credit whatever value we receive from Amiga against the board purchase. But if it costs you 65p for a 1 USD today and that USD only buys you/us 60p at the time your A1 is shipped then that (60p) is what will be credited. However if it buys 80p you win! as the dollar is quite weak at the moment it is more likely IMO that you will win rather than loose, but the exchange rate (as with many other things in life) can go up as well as down!

I just put this in to be posted too! Beat me too it!
Good news and nice to see that the Resellers and AmigaINC seem to be pulling together.

One might just wish that they had made up all details with dealers etc, with a proper advertising campain before letting it out of the box.. with enough time to reach the most amount of customers. A few weeks with some confusing messages here and there just isn't enough to attract people.
It is slowly going towards the deadline and with about 500 orders after 1-2 weeks one might wonder, what point is there to submit now. It is not likely that it would reach the 2500 required for the competition part to come into play anyway. I get a free tshirt and get to be part of yet another silent useless AInc email list, 'ohh ain't I to be the lucky one'.
Ohh well, nothing much to do about it now, perhaps they'll advertise it properly the next time. And add a competition at a lower entry level. Or at least not advertise the number of submiters until the race is finished.

Hehe nice donkey! :-D

Donkey? I thought it was a cow? :-? :-P
-
Take it from a farmers son. That's a cow if ever there was one.
Why the frell isn't there a cow message icon, anyway?
-
Frell? Aren't we allowed to say "hell" on this board anymore?
I thought we had all been there for the last few years :-D

Donkey? I thought it was a cow?
It is. But look at Elektro's brain. :-P

So, haven't seen much Farscape then, have you? Frell off and get enlightened, frelling newbie ;-)
Nah, but seriously, the Farscape idea of letting people say "frell" instead of a certain real curse word is brilliant. They get away with a lot of bad language, and everyone who has seen an episode or 10 knows EXCACTLY what they mean :-P
At the very least it sounds a lot better than "fsck", which really is short for filesystem check. Unless you have a very frelled up view of the universe, that's a frelling stupid word to use :-P
-
Oh man! It is a cow!!! Sheesh...
OK I'm gonna go milk the bull now so...

I dunno. It's exactly the sound you make when you're trying not to swear because you've dropped something heavy on your foot in front of The Important Customer We Must Please At All Costs.
I suppose there's always "smeg" or '--ing"
