ZDNet (http://news.zdnet.co.uk/story/0,,t269-s2118894,00.html) has this disturbing reminder for all UK based web-users.

One word:
Ridiculous!
-
Does this not get close to/step over the line of "invasion of privacy"?

This crap is already going on over here in the USA :-x What's scary is the public outcry practically does not exist

Should be a big boost for ISPs with fewer than 10,000 customers, since these are exempt. On the other hand, since any terrorists or criminals will also migrate to the small ISPs, what will be the point of data interception at the big companies? All in all a typical dumbass idea.

Is there no end to the grief
A friend of mine gave me a couple of tips for avoiding Big Brothers evil eye after August 1st:
- Set up your own mail server or use one that isn't based at your isp.
- Use one of the many open proxies instead of the one based at your isp.
Or if you can, use a smaller isp :-D
And I'm gonna start encrypting all my mail, even if it isn't sensitive.
Take care,
