The AWeb Open Source programming team has produced its first releases:
AWeb 3.4 APL for AmigaOS 3.x 68030
AWeb 3.4 APL for AmigaOS 3.x 68040
These are preliminary versions for testing purposes. No updated plugins or
online-documentation is available right now. However, these releases are compatible with current plugins already available.
Download them from http://aweb.sunsite.dk (http://aweb.sunsite.dk)
Enjoy...

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

:-D :-o :-D
-
Hehe yeah! this is realy one of those things i look on as important missing features on AmigaOS! a REAL browser so lets hope it can become one ;).
-
It may also be worth pointing out that an independent coder has
produced a version for MorphOS.
I would imagine that a version for AmigaOS4 will be available for the
commercial release.
-
do they have an organized agenda to follow in order to update the browser? what are the main points they are looking to improve in the short term? what about medium to long term?
I checked the home site but couldn't find their vision on how to proceed in order do upgrade it.
-
Understanding css is what amiga browsers should have added first!
By the way, whatever happened to the Directory Opus project?
-
What are the benefits of this new version then?
I'm tired - need spoon feeding the information...

Im a C coder, and as of Friday when i hand it in, ill also be a Java Coder :). It = Assignment! :)
Hrmmm, just had an idea, if these are Open Source, that means i can download it an possibly use it on WinUAE :). GeeWiz :).
Anyone tried it yet? Does it come with all the libraries it'll need/ That is, doesnt have any dependencies that i'll have to download right?
Lets find out :)
-
You know what they should have on their site?
They shoul have a page telling people you can help us if you can do this, this or that! I think it would encourage people to help if they actualy knew they could be of some assistance.
Then you could list the good things about being in this sort of project, for e.g giving the community a better browser, personal rewards, learning etc...
Not that ive tried hard, but i couldnt get it to run. Prolly something to do with using OS3.1? Need 3.9?
-
Hi' Rodney
You should be able to make it run, if you have ClassAct installed! Its comiled to support Reaction, but should be compatible with ClassAct :o)
Would you please check it out ;o)
-
Im going to have to try out the 68030 compiled version and see if it works nice on my 50mhz A1200.
-
Whatever ClassicAct is :)... Anyway, yer, ill look into it.
BTW - Im not the average Amiga user. Which is, a User that knows a lot about the system. I havnt used a REAL amiga in 4-5 years :) and when i did i didnt know enough about it to even use DOS!

You should see the president of our local Amiga user group! He rarely uses his Amiga now and we recently caught him typing MS-DOS commands on one the Amiga's at a recent workshop meeting. :-)
Though the way most of the discussion goes on you'd be forgiven for thinking it's a PC club. :-(

This is GOOD stuff! I hope this team grows and free AWeb gets alot of updates.
