Title: AmiBlitz 2, version 2.26 now available.
Post by: FarQuad on June 10, 2002, 06:21:51 PM
The latest distributions of AmiBlitz2 (v2.26) can now be found at the Blitz 2000 Site (http://www.blitz-2000.co.uk/).

AmiBlitz2 is the current name for the programming language previously known as Blitz Basic 2. It has since been released under the GPL.

As well as the latest distributions, the Blitz2000 site has been updated with all the recent months mailing list archives, the contents of the Blitz User International magazine (issues 4 to 8) and lots of other small fixes to the pages. [News page]

German speakers may want to check out the AmiForce site which has a dedicated AmiBlitz section and forum, and German versions of many documents.

Hmm, let me guess, you didn't actually want to type "hell world"?!  ;-)

Anyway, I have noticed that I too am unable to edit my own posts...

Actually every message posted on this topic so far should be deleted... for lack of merit.

Blitz is actually a cool language.

For those that have only experienced Blitz in its' early commercial releases, and are interested in development, it's worth having a look. Since then, the following have been added:-

A whole bunch of 3rd part libraries, giving access to masses more Blitz commands

Support for Amiga OS library functions has been kept reasonably up to date, giving full access to Amiga OS library functions:-

Seamless integration of ASM into the code.

Plugins include support for MUI, datatypes etc.

Compiler support for FPU and different processors.

The editor now sports greatly improved syntax highlighting.

The bottom line is, if you can do it in C++, you can do it in Blitz. You'd be surprised what's knocking about (probably your HD) coded in Blitz that you never new about.

i am happy that it is still being continued in development. the original creators of it are only doing blitz for windows now, blitz 3d came out not too long ago and they said they would not do amiga versions.

Don't get me wrong, I was only kidding. I know Blitz is a cool programming language. If I remember correctly, one of the most popular Amiga games Worms was written in Blitz :-D
