Post by: Chathurawind on April 21, 2002, 09:01:40 PM
Game publisher Sega (http://www.sega.com/index.jhtml) will announce on Thursday the formation of a U.S. division that will focus on games for cell phones and other mobile devices.

Mr Francis Wilde, AMIGA Inc chairman, is a former CEO of Ravisent. The main shareholder of Ravisent is CSK Group (Japan), the owner of SEGA Group. Perhaps Mr Wilde can persuade SEGA to use Amiga Anywhere (http://www.amiga-anywhere.com)?

Personally I thought it was more sad than shocking. Sega who were once a mega giant in the gaming community with the Genesis, has been castrated recently.
Sega 2000s = Atari 1990s :-x

I think it was a good move of Sega to get out of the hardware business. I find them as the most innovative software houses there is. Pretty much anything that is new and exciting in videogaming comes from Japan at the moment, and mostly from Sega. They have the guts to develop really weird and groundbreaking games that no American or European developer would dare invest money in. :-)
