Title: Adding SCSI stuff to A500+ HD8+
Post by: richard on September 24, 2003, 06:39:16 PM
Could some one tell me if I can add two SCSI drives to my

A500+ HD8

There is only one SCSI port on the board. But does it work like IDE, where two devices can live on 1 ribbon cable?

Or could a 50pin device work from the 25pin external socket?

Will a SCSI CD Rom work ok on a A500+?

Thanks

SCSI on the Amiga can support up to 7 devices. 1 of them will be the controller which leaves room for 6 more.  If you use an internal cable it will indeed appear like ide. Just make sure the 1st and last device is terminated and each device has a unique id.

So my humble A500+ can read CD's if I use a SCSI cdrom?

Thanks

I guess so yeah, you'll need an external case for the CD-ROM, but there's no reason why not

Yes but you will need a CD file system such as AsimCDFS or something similar. The amiga os does not support the reading of cd's directly. AsimCDFS t is what I use  and it is commercial. but nolonger supported by Asimware.  I believe there are some cd file systems on aminet that are shreware or freeware.
