Post by: System on March 20, 2002, 08:00:52 PM
The new Boing Bag for Amiga OS 3.9 is now available.  The Boing Bag is delivered in three parts: The main archive with all the files needed to update AmigaOS 3.9, the translations into different languages and the contributions (CDDB library, OpenURL, ClassAction).

Downloaded and installed already here!

I installed over my existing boot partition.
My 4000T with '060 had no problems on reboot.

Everything seems set the same as I had it...
improvements to AMPlifier and Sounddatatype are welcome.

I need to look into enhanced shell functions...

If improvements to font engine/cache are as advertised
this will help me out a lot....I've always wanted to keep
hundreds of fonts but previously had troubles with more than
150-200.

OK!?  So I've installed it.  Now, which CD player software supports the CDDB lib?  PlayCD does, but doesn't use the info it gathers.  I can't get the new enhanced "Execute command..." to work properly either.  No history with the cursors, and entering a URL doesn't open my browser....What could I have installed that would be conflicting?

What exactly can I now get rid of now that Exec has been updated and bug-fixed?

Just a few things to think about.....

Seems to work on uae as well, but button.gadget produces buttons with bright edges dark and dark edges bright. I had to restore the OS3.1 version to get things looking normal again.
I like the new layout for Find!

Well done!

I can't download it!

Has anyone tried IB2.2 to download BB2?

Or should I use an FTP client?

Maybe someone could mirror it/ upload to .Org?

I also was unable to download the Boing Bag via IBrowse 2.2.  However SimpleFTP did the job nicely, and I assume any FTP client would probably work as well.

The Boing Bag install went smoothly, and after a reboot, my system came up working just fine.  This was a very easy install, and was fully compatible with my A1200+Blizzard1260+PowerFlyer+IdeFix.

Thanks, Haage & Partner

I use IB2.2. I couldn't dowload the files directly
from the frontpage, but at the bottom of the page there
is a link to a FTP-list. IBrowse dowloaded those
in a snap :-).

Hmmm I actually had a problem with BB2. I downloaded and installed it, and my system would not come up after reboot. After some tinkering I figured out Setpatch is what was killing it. I had to copy the original OS3.9 Setpatch back into place and I am up and running again.

Anyone else here have this problem? Here's my system:

Quote regarding what software uses the new CDDB library included
in the Contributions for Boing Bag #2.
Quote
PlayCD does, but doesn't use the info it gathers.

YES it does use the info!

Are you sure you're running the correct version of PlayCD??
Maybe you have an old one installed somewhere else and are
running that one??
Did you install the CDDB stuff from Contributions correctly, add
the CDDB: assign to your system and reboot??

The OS 3.9 Boing Bag #2 install puts the newest version of PlayCD
in the SYS:Utilities drawer.  Here is my version information:

New Shell process 7
7.Workbench:> version sys:utilities/playcd file full
PlayCD 45.9 (09/28/01)
7.Workbench:>

All of the information is properly displayed in my PlayCD window.

I had the same problem. I was getting a guru on bootup on ocassion, other times on bootup I would get a recoverable alert! A few times it would get to the Workbench screen and just lockup. However, sometimes it would bootup fine.

Anyway, I went back to the last version of Setpatch and all seems to be fine.

I also downloaded the patch just fine with IB2.2 in reply to some of the other posts.
