Title: A strange first, buying PC's without Windows
Post by: System on February 22, 2002, 09:23:26 PM
From News.com (http://news.com) - comes a story about Walmart.com now selling PC machines without an OS.

While most of you will question whether or not this is Amiga related, the fabulous part is the bigger picture that companies are starting to realize that;

1) not everyone wants Windows
2) Windows is usually one of the most expensive pieces included with most store-bought machines.
3) Get rid of Windows, and they can sell a lot more machines to a lot more people.

Hats off to Wal-Mart for being the first major retail chain to truly recognize that fact.

sounds good at a glance, until you realise that the only OS that is going to gain from this is linux...

Linux?  There's other peecee OSs you can buy,
too, you know!

You might still even be able to buy BeOS!

 :-D

Besides, now that you can buy the Amithlon and AmigaXL packages online and install them...
