It looks like my old Epson 600 has finally bit the dust. After being assaulted by a HP Deskjet driver on my neighbor's Win2K machine, it has stopped reacting to any signals I've tried to send. I've been trying to find a replacement, but it appears that none of the models currently supported by AmigaOS are being sold anymore. So, my question: Does anybody know what printers will be supported in OS4? Alternatively, does anybody know what current printers might be backwards compatible with the excisting drivers?

Printing on AmigaOS ? I can give only one advice:
Turboprint !
Printing does have no priortity for AOS4, and probraly won't
be fixed before 4.1 or 4.2.
-
OS4.0 won't have a new printer system, so you can
always use the old 3.1/3.5/3.9 printer drivers (at
least Generic should work - text only), or buy
Turboprint as a replacement.
-
What about USB printers?

@odin
Poseidon does have a virtual par-port, so atleast printers with
both ports should work with the normal par-driver.
USB-only printers may be compatible with parallel modells.

AOS4 will have a differnt USB-stack, so .. ?????

Turboprint is definitly what every printer needs!
I would love to see TP as a part of future AmigaOSes!

I'm still eagerly awaiting my Turboprint "shipment" from Software Hut. I got the RAM a while back, but so far no charge on an invoice. :-)

Okay, I guess I'll get Turboprint then. I was hoping I wouldn't need it, as I think the printing system should be part of the OS. But I guess I was being overly optimistic...
Thanks for the input, folks!

What is it now, October 63rd? Looks like it's just not meant to arrive...:-)
