Hi all, I came here since I didn't find anything useful elsewhere:
this platform (GNU/Linux) lacks of a program like it is ArtGem under Win.
Any other (gimp or photoshop under win) is too much mem eater to be used quickly for that kind of images... I started using Deluxe Paint 4 emulated but this sucks a lot!!! :-x
I'm really interested in finding AOCP
The site seems not to exist anymore....
http://www.a2points.tm.fr/~5214304/aocp.htm
Does anyone where to get it??? latest version possibly!
Hope in your help :-D

No luck, it seems to have vanished. (There are probably people here better at searching than me though...) What I can say though is that Personal Paint fares better under emulation than DPaint, so maybe that's worth a try? I use it under UAE for making web graphics, etc.

If I'm not wrong Personal Paint is included in Cloanto's Amiga Forever suite?
I'm using it emulated through WinUAE under Wine, that nice :-D but unbeareable, where can I find if? like an .adf file ?
btw still looking for that piece of code...
As anyone of you ever tried ArtGem emulated through Wine? I can't get it working :-x

PPaint 7.1 is available on Aminet in /biz/cloanto/PPaint.lha
Just extract the files to your Hard file using LHA
e.g.
lha x PPaint.lha DH0:

For Simple Linux programs try these from
http://sourceforge.net:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpaint/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sf-xpaint/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/upt/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kolourpaint/

4P Uberpaint
as visible in the latest AROS screenshots
-
it's really sad to see project abandoned to themself, 4P aka UberPaint is really unfinished and there's no idea of what happened to him (the creator) since 2002.. will it make the same end of AOCP ? btw the code is there free to be upgraded.. let's see what will happen....
apart from this the other are:
- KolourPaint (a sort of PPaint for KDE) has never started
- Unix Paint is nothing more than the old Win Paint program, no brush selection... I'm really not impressed by the screenshots, apart from the fact is the best I saw here... may be the only to be tried
- XPaint is the most updated, last release is dated 10th of June 2003, not bad... but seems (no screenshots) really basic paint program
- gpaint is really outdated (2000) and has nothing more than Unix Paint or whatever
-
I also use PPaint under Winuae for doing graphics for my homepage, like these frames...

I totally DONT understand Photoshop, its an entirely new concept for me. I want to work with pixels not layers so I need to run Amiga style paint packages on my current platform - XP. Id really want cloanto to release PPaint for windows/linux but that wont happen I think.

There's a program called Promotion that was supposed to be a Dpaint clone for PC. I've never seen it so I don't know if it's any good or anything like the real thing. Boy, do I miss Dpaint IV (no, not V, that was crap).
-
I tried it (Promotion) but it's not worth of it... apart from the fact it runs only under windows. it's a sort of painting program, but too fulile for what I need to do. ArtGem is hudreds miles above anything I've seen b4... but nothing like this under linux...
