Recently I visited a Professional Multimedia
Hardware & Software expo.
I noticed that most equipments are based on Apple
Mac (not PC):
1. Audio: Sonorus STUDI/O, Lexicon, Mark of
The Unicorn.
2. Camera: Leica 1S (25 Megapixel), Hasselblad
(17 MP), KODAK n14 (14 MP), Canon 1DS (11 MP).
3. HDTV Cameras for TV Studio from SONY, etc.
Is it possible to use AmigaOne / Pegasos board
for niche professional / semi-professional
multimedia market?
What about the software and OS?

Possible? Yes! It would be possible on the PC aswell, but AFAIK dual G4's outperform the (much) cheaper PC-sollutions. I think it's due to Altivec or something...
It's not very likely, though; even though many people remember the Amiga-platform, most people consider it dead.
On the other hand: Who knows what the future will bring. If only someone makes a very special application and refuse to port it to any other platform... :-)

The Mac has better software.
Any new Mac you buy comes with software (iMovie, iDVD) to grab movies from a digital source such as a mini-dv camera and edit it, add special effects and titles, and create your own DVD movie. All in a very user-friendly way.
There is higher end stuff such as Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, etc. which appeals to the professional film-makers (even Hollywood blockbusters).
Also there is software (iPhoto) to grab images from digital cameras, crop/resize/retouch them, organise them into albums, create slideshows, print them, publish them on the Web, order prints, burn them to a Photo-CD or a normal Data-CD, even burn them to DVD as a movie. I know several professional photographers who use Macs exclusively.
The iLife software is all integrated so you can import and export directly from iMovie to iDVD or iPhoto to iDVD etc.
And of course the Software is all free with the Mac, so you can start creating from day one.
On PC, to get a suite of software as extensive and full of features as the iLife package would cost hundreds (maybe thousands) of pounds.
Macs have taken over from Amiga as computer of choice for the creative professional. Until Amiga gets some cheap / free software to match the Mac offerings, I don't think this will change.

I believe the peg and a1 will have some pretty good 'multimedia' type software for it in the near future.

I would love to see some good software for video
edits and DVD authoring etc. on Pegasos/A1.
Until then our Amiga video toaster is still a
powerhouse and the easiest to use non-linear
editing i've ever seen or used. The power of
dedicated hardware is hard to beat even now.
The output is still amazing and accepted readily
for professional work. It does everything live with
no time wasted rendering projects out like other
software systems.
