I second that.

The loss of Amiga.org's photo Album is a big loss to me. I do hope the photo data and comments were kept and can be preserved in some way.

Also the lack of an old->new URL redirector is unfortunate. A lot of great links to amazing Amiga.org threads are now dead :(

I think that could be fixed to some extent with mod_rewrite (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/mod/mod_rewrite.html) magic.

Yes the loss of the photo gallery is a shame, but I believe the data are backed up so hopefully it can either be migrated to the new system in its entirety, or made available for viewing so people can re-post their own photos in the new system, assuming there's a gallery add-on for VBulletin.

Fortunately we got, (on AmigaOS4 and Morphos) a CSS capable browser, otherwise with IB and such it would be a mess.

Anyway good looking new layout :-)

Just worked out how to get networking running in E-UAE. The standard version looks pretty nasty. I didn't test any functionality. I'm posting this now in iBrowse using the mobile skin. Searching, viewing and replying to threads seems to work perfectly. It's also really quick, though that's in UAE, but it's bound to be quicker even than the old a.org since the mobile version is so lo-fi.

Edit - quotes aren't formatted in the mobile version, so they appear as part of the main text of the reply. Perhaps quotes could be italicised in the mobile skin to make it more obvious that they are separate from the reply?

I didn't do anything major, really. And what I did do was only possible thanks to Wayne sending me the pm database structures for both systems and some sample data (my own messages, nobody panic) from each one. He didn't have to expend the effort to do that really, considering how much else there was to do.

Personally, I'm more for writing scripts to convert as much of the old content as humanly possible :)

MySQL6 and PHP6 are in the offing and v5 has been standard now for years. Unless you host it yourself, serving the old content just isn't going to be feasible.

Just wanted to say congrats on moving so much content to a new system. There's some flaws with Mozilla Firefox on a Windoze machine: The login fields are displayed about one character wide, and it looks like I have to click on the "quick reply" button twice in order to get to a "your message is too short"-message that finally opens up an editor box.

Way to go, but it's the right way. Thumbs up!

Wayne,

OK, this might not be a bug:

When I enter the site, I can see the left and right sections with all the navigation stuff, but as soon as I open a topic in the forums, the table-structure disappears and the forum display takes up the whole screen width. Is this intentional?

Yes actually, but it is subject to change as is everything else.

The issue being that vBulletin (the forum package) is two columns while the newly installed front end is 3. Since when you log in, you're actually authenticating to vBulletin, it automatically pulls up the forums page.

Looking for a workaround, but that might just be "the way it is".

I think the quick reply function uses a lot of javascript. Not really suitable for older browsers. But as you mentioned, the proper reply button works fine though so no real loss. Personally I never use Quick reply.

@Wayne

Posting with NetSurf 2.0 (23 Apr 2009) graphics.library version, the last of my "amiga" web browers.

So far amiga.org looks great on OWB 3.13 and this version of NetSurf.  Posting also fine with these browsers.

As expected, IBrowse and AWeb have a few problems, but still functional, at least on my system.

Great work Wayne.  Looking fine so far.

Thanks,

I just wanted to say thanks for the hard work people have put in porting amiga.org to the new content system and moderating the site over the years.

I may not post as often as some other amiga.org users but I would have missed amiga.org if it went as I find amiga.org the best place to talk about running 68k software on my A1200s and my minimig.

The new look also works quite well even if it dose look a little different from the old look we have all become accustomed too.
