Down here in Texas, there is a Amiga club that to my knowledge has not seen a Pegasos system in person running etc.. Well, I emailed them and asked if they would like for me to demo mine and they said yes. So next month I will be doing this.
I'm not the greatest speaker though and on top of that I would like some ideas on what to show other then the OS, some popular apps etc.
I have a demo of CDRW software, I think I have Final Writer but have not transferred it to the Peggy (dont know if it works under MOS)... etc
Let me know what you think I should show....

MAME :-)

noted.

Umm... I don't know if Final Writer works. I'd try and show various Amiga software for compatibility. If I was demoing, then I'd show PageStream, ImageFXv4 (although I don't have PPC modules), ArtEffect 3, Miami, IBrowse, Cinema 4D, Freespace, Delitracker... :)
Do you have any of the Superbundle software loaded up? You might want to show off FXPaint, ProStation Audio.
Others on my list would be the MOS versions of Quake, UAE, BOCHS, Mplayer (playing a DVD), FroggerNG (playing DivX), MAME, ScummVM and not to mention the Catweasel.
Then there is APDF, Voyager, Kayaa that you might want to show off along with the skinning options. ;)
-
Yes, I have the superbundle loaded...along with quite a bit of the stuff you mentioned.
AAAhh yea...FroggerNG I could do that along with a few other multitasking things...I will get to work tonight installing what I dont have and playing around with it... :)
I guess this means I need to get a fancy looking keyboard since mine is a plain jane PC keyboard.. :/

Hey Magic,
There should be a software compatibility list floating around on MorphZone.
MorphZone list (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/xoopsfaq/index.php?cat_id=4)
It is a little out of date, as applications are being added almost daily now, but it should be a good start.
Here's a more current list in French (program names are readable).
http://gilles.mathevet.free.fr/pegasos/programme.html (http://gilles.mathevet.free.fr/pegasos/programme.html)
As for Final Writer, I don't know, but it most certainly SHOULD work. I don't own it, so cannot check to say for certain. I know that I have very little problem getting most software to work on my Pegasos and I'm looking forward to the upcoming versions of ImageFX and Aladdin 4d (PPC native) for the Pegasos.
You might go ahead, for the purposes of demo'ing the machine and load the full SuperBundle package. Most of the stuff I use comes from that bundle anyway.
Let me know if I, or my team can help you with this.
-
Whats an pegasos, how does MOS work, what programs are in MOS, how is MOS as an os, what programs you use, better read up on the facts you might need it :-) .
-
I knew there was a list..just didnt check it when I posted this.. :) I *think* I have Pagestream still shrinkwrapped (was gonna ebay it but didnt have all the docs) so it may come in handy after all. LOL
Wayne, Thanks I appreciate it. I wanted to make it this month but it would have been too early of a notice and I wouldnt be as prepared. This is gonna be fun!!
Slayer: For the most part I know the answers to those questions...just need to bring a copy of the software compatability list. :-P
-
I wonder if Pegasos will have a magazine out soon ?
-
you'll do fine as a speaker, just pretent your a politician and really believe it, every thing will fall in place.Uh...Iam gona show my A1 running os4 to the same people... that is if i ever get it. good luck and have fun.
-
uncle: you're from Austin?
-
I am from Louisiana, you'll know when you get in Louisiana, can't keep your car on the road from all the holes and bumps..
-
MagicM, try showing MPlayer. Everyone is always impressed with MPlayer. And I also like to show VirusZ and the demo "Own Love Balance" and there is always Birdie Shoot.
-
yea! birdie shoot thats kool...
-
Well, I know this is gonna make y'all cringe...but a powerpoint slideshow would help. I found that slides give something visual for everyone to look at, and help me remember what I'm gonna say...
-
Hmm.. actually.. It's better to use Hollywood for that.. OK, it's a
bit more work to make that Slideshow with it but at least it runs
nativelly on Pegasos and IMHO that's a good point during demo.
(ok.. windows laptop is not a bad idea for backup, but It would make
better impression if everything is done on Pegasos/morphOS)
-
@ JoannaK
Not being a Peg user I didn't know there was software available for MOS. Obviously this would be better!
-
Lets say.. making short sales-demo Slideshow.
Image-FX (lite comes on bundled for free, full version from
IOspirit), has quite nice image capturing and editing tools.
Hollywood http://www.airsoftsoftwair.de/
Base price 49Eur (+vat) includes MorphOS version that works cleanly on
Pegasos.
MorphEd. For making hollywood scripts.. it's a bit overkill but as
it's free and coming on SDK. well.. :)
Hmm.. What else.. Some music from Aminet (protracker format so
Hollywood can play it), Some neat Truetype fonts for presentation
(plenty on net). Plus a bit time, effort and good taste.
-
Velcro_SP: I have both actually... (mplayer, virus_Z)..that'll be on the list along with some old school Amiga apps. I also have UAE running so I'll have to transfer a few ADF's to the Peggy.
ALL: It seems as though you'all would have some fancy presentations.. No pressure, right ? LOL
-
Hi MagicM!
Have your SuperBundle CDs, posters, flyers, etc., all ready to go -- just answer the last email please!
:-D

I agree try playing a dvd with it,other programs like the old range of ppc games like wipeout 2097 wich i understand will work on morphos without any trouble.By the look of some the things in morphos 1.4 you have a lot of stuff to demonstrate already. :-)
-
bbrv: no email just yet. Let me email you just to make sure you have mine.
-
LL: It seems as though you'all would have some fancy presentations.. No pressure, right ? LOL
If you want, I've got Hollywood here. If someone is willing to send me, images, text, etc. I can make an executable for you to use in your presentation?
I can then send you the executable, see if you can get something up and running (with the needed library files) and then we can tweak it for you.
-
sdesros: dont tease me like that! I may just have to hold you to that! That would be great. I dont know if this location will have a projector but I do have a 19" monitor that I am taking with me :)
-
Kermit is working on a presentation now...
Kermit! :-)
We need this available to all motivated presenters!

Oh no, my initial slideshow suggestion has been taken up! Will this mean I will be hunted down as a Pegasos sympathiser and summarily executed?
-
Perhaps. :P
I just forgot that I could generate Executables out of Hollywood so that someone that didn't have Hollywood could run a Hollywood slideshow... They just don't have the luxury of editing the presentation. :P
-
sdesros: Are you going to make a executable presentation that I can use?
-

Could we get this for the next Pegasos-presentations in Germany, too, please? (Bremen Oct. 4/5, Hamburg Oct. 10-12, Dresden Oct. 18)
@TheMagicM:
FinalWriter97 (my all-platform-favourite-wordprocessor) does run basically, but you need to open it on a 8-bit screen - otherwise the paper has the same colour as the background.
/me hoping for a lottery prize to buy the source code from Softwood for a MorphOS-version and continued development...
Problem is that Softwood doubt there'd be anyone left in the Amiga market who'd be able to pay them enough for the sources... :-(
Erm, Raquel & Bill - do you really still need your Porsche...? :-D
