Title: A600 Question
Post by: Prmetime on September 16, 2003, 07:17:27 PM
Hello all,
I put a 1.5 Meg memory expansion into the trap door of my A600.  I thought this was for system or "other" RAM yet it is showing up as video RAM.  Is this correct?

The trap-door expansion slot on Amiga 600 is for 1MB of extra Chip RAM only, making total available Chip RAM 2MB in size. For expansion of Fast RAM you need a PCMCIA SRAM card which can be anywhere from 1 to 4MB in size. Amiga 600 and 1200 can only address up to 4MB of Fast RAM through the PCMCIA port. If you want to get more than 4MB of Fast RAM on Amiga 600, then you must buy an accelerator board which enables addition of SIMM memory or already has embedded RAM. Of course, installing an Amiga 600 accelerator is a very dirty job indeed, and here (http://www.amiga600.de) is why.

At least I know that my results are normal.  With some of the random problems that are showing up on my A3000, I was going to use this A600 for a skeet target if this wasn't the correct result.  :-D
