...they just made it from spare pcbs/parts and you put it in your amiga and it consumes power. also it is blue so it looks cool (propably blue paint was spare as well)

all the extra OS3.5/3.9rom information and any modules you want can be loaded into the kickflash, so instead of your machine having to do 3 reboots from startup, 1 to load 3.9rom stuff, 2 to do the prepemu stuff for fusion, 3 to load anything else you want before the operating system kicks in - your machine just boots up as per normal, because everything is contained in the kickflash which is seen as a "rom" by the machine so gets loaded automatically at startup.
bigger flash chips, like the one on the deneb card can also contain a complete USB stack, so the amiga knows how to use USB devices immediatly, supports booting from USB storage devices, and USB input devices in early startup control etc.
so kickflash type devices are fairly usefull  :-)

I have one, but i'm not sure how to use it. I successfully flashed it with a 3.1 rom and the flashupdate, and then removed the write-enable jumper on the board. But it still shows the version numbers of the 3.0 roms in WB.

I have/had a kickflash, but it's been out for repair for almost a year now.

But regardless of that, I've never had good success putting everything in the flashrom and having the machine boot properly with all those updated components.  It either reverts back to the older rom-based stuff, or I get in some sort of loop situation with SetPatch, even if I have tried to "skip" the modules.

It would be nice if there was a detailed walk-thru of how to properly do it and all the command syntax.

I had 2 of these in my 2 A4000s. Reading the CoyoteFlash docs will reveal all the secrets. Also read the Blizkick docs to learn how to make a SINGLE boot 3.9 setup.
