Title: A question about OS 3.9 & GFX cards
Post by: melott on September 15, 2003, 10:18:56 PM
I have a question about GFX cards and OS 3.9.

I just installed OS 3.9 .... during the installation
it prompted me to install the CyberVision64 GFX
card.... I said OK ..install it.
The question is 'do I still install Picasso96'??
I never got it working right under OS 3.1.
Since OS 3.9 installed the card is that all I need??

If you use a graphics card, install either CyberGfx OR Picasso. Not both.

Then you just need to alter some of the settings for the choice you have made.

I prefer CyberGfx. ;-)

Hmmm.... so you are saying to install the
CyberGraphics64 disks instead of Picasso96??
The reason I'm asking is it appears that when
I installed OS 3.9 it also installed the CV 64 card.

Its a little confusing ( no prior experience with them).

It did not "install the CV64 card". It just copied the drivers it found from your 3.1 setup.

So if you used CGX before it has installed CGX now, too. You must not mix Picasso96 and CGX. If you'd like to use Picasso96, you have to uninstall CGX before.

@ melott

i suggest you to install P96 for your CV64.(works better than CGX with CV64)

Picasso96 is bundled with the OS3.9 CD.

As someone already said, remove all CGX related stuff, then install P96 with its own install icon.

During the installation, you must decide the max Horiz Freq supported by your monitor (Khz)

cgx 4.3 is supposed to be better...but heh anyway p96 is easy to install..

but still you need to remove all cgx files from your setup (system files anyway) , infact i had so big probs with that (not getting cv64 to work with cgx) that i formatted the hdd and sold the card :)

(common probs, just stops while booting , system dont open in rtg ec)

its a pain...escpeciially when it happened when i was offline for 2 years -;(

cheers

pps:i use p96 still now after so many years..i love it...its easy and manageble..

Where can I get 'CGX 4.3' ..... I have ver. 2.15 ??
I'll try Google.......
I'm starting with a clean drive so I can try both
and see which I like best.

Not with the CV64 card.

We have done some intensive testings on this GFX board, and CV64 works better with P96.
