I thought I saw somewhere that occasionally a ROM board would show up on ePay that would allow installing Kickstart 1.3 inside an Amiga1000. If this is true, what is the name of the board? Where can I get one? :-D
-
djbase sells a board that allows someone to put a 1.3 and greater rom into a A1000.
I believe 30 euro.

There was also the commercial version from DKB called the KwikStartII which allowed the installation of 2 different KickStart ROMs and the ability to switch between them from the keyboard using the three key restart function. All that you had to do was to hold down the keys a little longer and you would then be started from the alternate KickStart ROM. All cold booting would be from the same ROM each time. Switching to the alternate ROM could only be done when doing a warm boot.
I had 1.3 and 2.04 installed in my A1000 for a long time, with a modified Startup-Sequence to detect which KSROM was in use and fire the correct User-Startup to use the correct HD partition for the corresponding AmigaOS for 1.3, or 2.1.
I spent many nights up late into the wee hours of morning on that Amiga. Great fun and memories from that time.

with a littlebit soldering, you could add a rom by yourself ;-)

Hey Ratte, that looks excellent - thanks! I am waiting for the commercial one from DJBase, but I might have a go at that :)

It was 10 Euro, 30 Euro would be a little too much.

Sorry about that DJBase. I was thinking about the conversion.

I just got one of these jewels from DJBase. The A1000 is opened up, ready for the board. This will surely make using the SCSI interface I have easier.

I'm interested to get one if I can disable it to use KS 1.1 or 1.2 disk.
Can I put on it a "classic" kickstartstart switcher with KS 1.3 and 3.1 ?

Hardly as you have to modify the mainboard a bit and have removed Even/Odd completly.

Yes, this works.
