Hi, all,
As some of you know, I have some Amiga software posted for Auction right now.
Just got a question from an ebay member: As follows:
(remember this is ONLY listed under Amiga, and is called AMIGA ProWrite Software in the title)
"Can this software be loaded and run on my Dell with windows? "
OMG!!!!!!    This has to be a joke!

although they are a bit dim, its not such an impossible question.
Yes you can get it on a dell....i.e you can transfer the executable to the PC. You can even Load it....e.g Using a Debugging Tool. You can even execute it, which will attempt to run the the first few bytes but ultimately it will crash but if I was being asked that at a Junk Sale, I wouldn't be lying would I ;) ?
Sadly Ebay has took away the whole point of selling as you cannot claim "Buyer Beware!". Nor is there any point in saying "Sold as Seen!" as your still going to get a neg.... :(

Glen, you could always reply to his question and post it on your ePay ad. There's a checkbox for that option above your reply. Maybe write: "yes you can, just be sure you are running an Amiga emulator when doing so"... lol Or provide a link to Wiki, explaining the differences between an Amiga and a PeeCee clone. These tactics are polite and professional enough on your end AND it'll show the rest of the world that hey... this guys a moron!
In a strange way, kinda cool though that he'd want to run ProWrite on any computer, given what's available today word processor wise.

Be polite, be professional and reply stating:
"Absolutely, if you install WinUAE and a Kickstart ROM on Windows first. I will be happy to provide you with ADF files of the actual floppy disks for a small additional fee ($50) should you win. For $100 extra (to cover my time and extra postage) I'll even throw in an old copy of Amiga Forever."
I'm sure he'll take you up on such a generous offer. ;-)

@Darrin : +1 :lol:

Why is everyone making fun of me???? It was a legitimate question!!!!!!
*snort*

I did reply if yo see the auction LOL, kind of sarcastic
"This is a joke right?
If this is not a joke, then NO, not without your Dell Running an AMIGA Emulator, like WinAUE.
This is software for the Commodore Amiga, Still to this day, a way better computer than any Dell can ever aspire to be.
"

Shirley you mean `moron`.
;-)

To be blunt I think the answer is more embarrassing than the question.

-and please don't call me "Shirley" :-D

I can't keep up with the English language and you Yanks. Just as I thought oooooo a typo I can make fun of I checked the Urban Dictionary and sure enough, moroon is a combination of moron and baboon. It's hard to keep up with the Yanks' English...

Yes, I am sure us "Yanks" have screwed up the English language a lot over the last couple hundred years, but at least when we speak it, most people around the rest of the World who have learned some of the English language can understand what we are saying. That isn't always true for many people in the UK, who claim they are speaking English.
Also, ask most other people from other countries who are trying to learn and understand all the quirks of the English language and I am sure most will agree that it is a pretty messed up language to start with, before us "Yanks" ever existed to screw it up further. :-D
"Moron & Baboon = Moroon" I like it!
-
maybe he was marooned on moroon island.
-
He could be the Secret of Moroon Island?
-
I love it "Yanks".... I am a Canadian Hee Hee. But I got it from the Yanks I guess.
I first heard the term from Bugs Bunny Ages ago...
"What a maroon"
Its been floating around Saturday Morning TV for like 50 years. I am sure that as long as TV sets have been out, or since the first Saturday morning Cartoons, Bugs bunny and gang have been there.

In a similar style, Funt is one of my favourite adjectives.

Didn't they used to have a "Maroon Alert" in Captain Scarlet? Or was that Magenta ?
