Yeah, I know this is strange, but a friend donated me an Ultra5 sparc workstation, but I have no sun mouse, nor actually want to get one as they are a crap $30+ buy
So I did install a USB2 card based on ALi chipset, and on Solaris10 I get USB-mouse support all the time but unfortunatelly my 400mhz ultra5 is somewhat slow for solaris10... tried to install 9 from scratch, but there is a complain in boot that "multiple mice are not supported" and I get no mouse during installation... tried to continue but I could not...
Long shot, but anyone knows a workaround? I tried looking on Sun's support pages, but to me they seem a complete mess!
thanks!!! :-D

That is interesting. I do not have any graphical experience with Solaris 9, so I have no useful insight to provide. But what I did notice is that Solaris 8 administrative manual mentions, in relation to keyboards and mice, "Only onboard USB controllers are supported. Plug-in host controller PCI cards are not supported."
I wonder if that situation was changed for 10, but left as-is for 9.

I have seen it too, but don't want to believe it , at least for 9! in 10 usb-mouse works EVERYWHERE from start....
I would not mind getting a normal Sun mouse but they are ANCIENT bus-mice and no optical ofcourse... they just suck

I have an optical, but it requires a dotted metal plate. I also may have a couple of spare Sun mice (non-optical.) I know where they are, just a matter of getting to them -- we could work out a deal.
The description of how Solaris prior to 10 handles USB mice for the console is interesting. :-)
