Title: WTB scandoubler/flickerfixer
Post by: dougal on April 07, 2009, 01:58:14 PM
I would like to buy a scandoubler/flickerfixer .

Are the external ones any good as the new Indivision ones ?

Thing is it would be nice if i can use it for all my Amiga's and not just either the A1200 or the A4000 like the option from indivision .

Anyone got one for sale at a good price ?

You would be after an external model then. They do not produce as good a picture as the internal ones, but if you're looking for the flexibility aspect of it, external is the way to go.

There's a chap in the Atari community that is working on releasing an external FF/SD for Amiga and his name is Roy. Last I spoke with him, he was having trouble with noise with PAL modes. This was back in July last year. Anyway, if you want his e-mail, PM me. I'm going to write him now and see where things are sitting...

Other than his affordable box which hopefully will be available soon ($65 IIRC), there are models in the +/-$100 range on ePay designed for gaming consoles that some have reported work well.

SoftHut may still have some externals in stock.  I bought from them a couple years ago and the price was reasonable as well.   I think it was $99 USD.

Patience is often rewarded...it sounds like you'll have additional options for ECS Indivision cards in the next few months.

Having had two of the best external scandoublers (an older external and an internal scanmagic)over the last 3 years, I'm very glad I sold them last fall. The picture wasn't that great.  I'm waiting for the fall to get one for my A1200 but the A4000 version I installed last week is amazing (but then I already started that thread)   :-D
