Where can I buy new or used 720k 3.5" PC disk drives? I need these drives for my Amiga computers. I am mainly looking for the Epson, Chinon, or Panasonic 720k drives. These where used in both the Amiga and Atari ST computers. They all had the jumper settings for DF0, DF1, RY and DC. :-o

www.ebay.com comes to mind immediately

To Jope:
I checked on eBay. There are no 720k drives listed at all. Do you know of another source? :-o

Ebay is the only bet, or you can do what I used to do. Check out your local thrift shops. You'll have to buy the complete computer, but they usualy are only a few bucks. Pull the stuff you need and sell the rest on ebay.

I never see Amiga or Atari ST computers in any of my local area Goodwills. I usually only see old PCs and Macs. :-(

I have used older 1.44 PC disk drives on my Amigas.
These had the same jumpers as the old 720k models.
They work as a 720k and do not do 1.44 high density
disks. You must still use DD disks or tape the hole
on the high density disks.
I found them to work well as a spare drive, DF1 etc.
Not sure if all worked as DF0 though.

Maybe you could get one from an old 386 pc these things are mostly given away due to being of not much use. :-)

If Software Hut ( www.softhut.com ) and Compu-quick ( www.compuquick-amigadirect.com ) don't carry them, perhaps, with some spare time, hack a quick interface with a pc-type floppy drive using docs and schematics posted at Aminet ( www.aminet.net )
