I am trying very hard to get data to and from my Amiga 1200 but am having very little luck. I tried the CompactFlash adapter from AmigaKit and it doesnt work so now I have bought an IDE-fix buffered interface so that I can use an IDE cdrom more reliably.
However when I try to install the software it says 'cannot open tool Installer'. I have a bare WB3.0 install so I dont have anything else. What do I need? Is there someone in the UK that can send me a floppy with what I need?
Thanks
Allan

If you cannot transfer files from the internet to your Amiga, you can use the older installer from the Install3.0 disk. It's in the main directory without and icon (use "Window-> Show -> All files" from the menu to see it).
In either case, copy Installer to the Utilities drawer of your boot partition.
Bye,
Thomas

Thats great, the version on the Install3 disk seems to work great. Now I have a new problem! The guy I bought the buffered IDE interface from (on ebay) didnt give me a serial number for the software. Looks like I will have to buy that seperately!

The registration details can be found on the internet if you google enough :rtfm:

Why didn't the transfer kit work? That's the easiest way to transfer files between your Miggy and your PC.

It doesnt recognise any of my CD or SD cards. I have tried 6 different ones :(

Ok, so I installed the demo version but when I scan for devices it just crashes. I am using an Artec 48x CDRW on the secondary port of the IDEfix interface. DOes anyone have any clues?
Thanks

Hi,
some CDRW are not at all fully Atapi compliant, and won't work like my Samsung CDRW 52x...
Try to kick all file.device in your DEVS: that don't belong to your peripherals.

Well, I eventually managed to get my CD-ROM detected. It seems that it refused to work using a CF card as a hard drive but when I used a real HD it all just worked. (I'm pretty sure it wasnt a jumper issue either as I tried every combination possible!). Now I need to hit the Aminet to get some software onto the miggy :)
