Title: Some questions about CD burning on Amiga
Post by: marcfrick2112 on March 21, 2009, 08:00:14 AM
Hi everyone,
I'm backing up my 1200T's hard drive, using MakeCD and a very cheap IDE CD-R drive (.99 EPay special :) . I have a few questions:
I wanted to burn hard drive partitions in separate directories on the CD, e.g. Files from my 'Work:' partition go into a DIR called 'Work' on the CD, but I couldn't figure it out in MakeCD... (MasterISO lets you do this easily, but doesn't recognise my burner)
Sooo... I thought I'd experiment a bit with MakeCD. I burned a CD with 3 separate data tracks, one for each partition on the HD. I found out almost by accident, that if I selected 'multi Volume' from CacheCDFS Prefs, I could select the data track I wanted. (Workbench: , Work:, or Work2:) Yay! But... How on Earth do I access the 2 other tracks on my A4000, or my PC's, for that matter?
My 4000 is OS3.1 w/AsimCDFS , btw...
So, any programs besides CacheCDFS from OS3.9 that could select a certain data track on a CD? Anything similar for the PC? (Not a big deal, just curious...)
And all this because I thought burning only my 82MB workbench to a CD was a 'waste' ....

Thanks everyone...
P.S. anyone use MasterISO with IDE burners?

You can easily put each partition into a seperate directory by specifying an image path:

If you want to include previously written tracks into a new track on a multisession CD, you have to add the older track to the new file system.

I never got multi-track CDs to work with Windows, though. It only shows the first track rather than the last one as it should.

Bye,
Thomas

to access on your A4000 you need cache CDFS installed.  no other way that i've found.

On windows i used nero 5 (?) under win98se.  I tried but i couldn't get that to work in XP, nor with any other version of nero

Thomas: Brilliant! Thanks much  :-D
stefcep2: Thanks for the info, if I can't get the PC to read any other tracks, it's not the end of the world... as long the Amiga can read it...
