Title: Can The New Indivision A4000 Version Work In Genuine A4000T
Post by: amiga1084 on March 20, 2009, 05:15:43 AM
Hello All,

I have read there is a new version Indivision made for A4000 desktop and also works in the CD32. But I can't find out anywhere does it work in a genuine A4000T. If so I want one.
Like to hear your comments.

Thanks in advance,
Merv Stent

No.

if you'd be interested in purchasing one drop us an email amigarulesatnishtekdotcom (remove rules and replace other things with proper things).
If there's enough demand, i may place an order to have it manufactured (this is quite expensive, so i must have at least some orders!)

Is that "NO" for both versions of the A4000T?  The Commodore version and the Amiga Technologies version?

@nishtek,

How can you place an order for a version of the Indivision for an A4000T if it has not been designed for it yet by Jens?  I see no information on his website about an A4000T version.

You are not doing a redesign or alteration yourself, are you?

There is no difference between Commodore and Amiga Tech so "No" for both.

As someone pointed out - no for both.  I don't believe there's too much difference in A4000T motherboard layout in CBM or Amiga Technologies versions.
Any redesign/reengineering means infringement on Jens' product copyrights and that wouldn't be nice.  I'm inquiring here how many users of A4000T are still around.  The orientation/rotation of Lisa is different and the placement is different (other items/components in the way), hence it requires a non-1200/non-4000 redesign.  An order like this requires 300+ users and i'll be darned if i'm going to shell out in excess of >10k without knowing the # of users first. :-P So anone owning A4000T and who is interested pls pm me. :-D

There is no difference at all. Amiga Tech doesn't changed anything. Not on the A1200 and not on the A4000T board layout.

There was a thread earlier (maybe on amigaworld.net) in which Jens said specifically that the indivision does not work with the A4000T.  He didn't say why but I suspect that there is something physically in the way. or the chips are not exactly the same distance apart or something like that.

I knew the motherboards are the same, but since I don't know if the redesign is required due to the motherboard, or due to the case and because the cases for the Commodore and the Amiga Technologies versions of the A4000T are different, I thought I would ask.

The only difference between the cases are the front bezel. Thats all.

I think that a scandoubler for good old video slot would be the right answer for most of all A4000D and A4000T users. One could complain about the loosing a zorro slot, but not forever if an half-size zorro board is fitted behind like the Deneb USB or controller for example. My hope is that a slot version of the Indivision could see the light because since from ScanDoubler II (that was a full size board so not very optimal) no other similar products have been released since.
