I have red just about everything I can google 2 times or more. I can't see what I'm doing wrong?! I am trying to make an emulated version of my A1200 to take with me when I travel. Only real difference is I'm working with a 10G hardfile in RDB mode. I have been trying to follow the directions Thomas gave me to do the same thing on a real HD and its not working what am I doing wrong. Thanks
-
Just use Windows folders instead of hardfiles. It's a lot easier and more flexible.
-
Some games are not compatible that way. I wish I could. I just don't see why it won't allow me to do an exact emulation. I have set everything up exactly the same as when I did it with a real HD.
:-(
-=EDIT=-
Thought I would add how far I get
I'm able to load a patched scsi.device file with loadmodule and able to use hdtoolbox to setup sfs and partition the drive and set the maxtransfer all goes well till I reboot and go to format drives
I get a red software failure message with the #
Error: 8000 0002 Task: 10002224

When (after which action) does the guru appear and what is the contents of the guru ?
Which version of WinUAE do you use and which config ?
Bye,
Thomas

YAY Thomas!!! I'm using the exact same config from before when you showed me to make the real Hard disk. I'm just doing it with a Hard file this time. like I said in the edited post it says exactly
Software Failure. Press LMB to continue.
Error: 8000 0002 Task: 10002224

YES don't remember what I searched for but found an old post that said to change the surfaces option in WinUAE to 8 and that fixed it.
-=EDIT=- I may have spoke too soon will fallow up on more info
unless some one knows whats going on.
-
Surfaces, Reserved and Sectors should all be set to 0 if you want to use HDToolbox. Or simply click on "Enable RDB mode" which does nothing else but set these three values to 0.
Bye,
Thomas

Its that setting that makes the red software error message.
when set to 8 I was able to format the first partition after that the second one froze winuae and had to reboot to make it go away
-
Which version of WinUAE ? Try 1.5.3 or even the latest beta of 1.6.0.
Bye,
Thomas

1.5.2 didn't know where was a 1.6.? will this really make a difference? I can go upgrade.
-=Edit=-
I may have fixed it. Well see when its done initializing the last disk.
What I had to do was press the RDM mode button in the had config and increase the surfaces until the too many cylinders error went away. Its taking a long ass time initializing the last disk but its the biggest one so I spose it will take a wile.
If this doesn't work I will post again if it did I won't :-D
