Title: PPT datatypes.library error
Post by: boinger on March 16, 2009, 05:43:19 PM
i downloaded an image processor software package from aminet called PPT. when i went to run it said can't find version 0 of datatypes.library. the documentation says it uses version 3.0, or os 3.0, of datatypes.library that can be found in aminet util/dtypes.
i checked there and am not sure as to what file it is referring to. is anyone running PPT who knows? or is there another good freeware image processor out there that i could use?

thanx.

Do you have OS3 or higher? It's required for datatypes. There's an alternative datatypes library here (http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/dtypes454upd).

Also take a look at SView5 for image processing.

running os 2.04 but ppt says it will run with it just requires the datatypes.library upgrade.

Odds are the author is mistaken. I'm fairly certain datatypes.library requires some v39 features not available in 2.x. Otherwise I expect everyone with 3.x disks would have copied the datatypes over to their 2.x systems by now.

Maybe datatypes v45 is different. I don't know.

Try looking at the traditional big three of Amiga image processing: ImageFX (http://www.novadesign.com), ADPro, and ImageMaster. I think ImageMaster is freeware now, and ADPro turns up fairly regularly on eBay. I think there's also a demo of Photogenics on Aminet.
