Tomorrow I'm going to pick this up:

Anyone have one of those or something of similiar specs running WinUAE or other emulators (VICE etc).

I have an Acer travelmate with 1.7ghz budget Celeron cpu. Despite this WinUAE works very well. I have nothing to complain about with the Amiga emulation. Have not tested more demanding games like breathless that require a4000 emulation, if I remember right, or genetic species. But all a1200 Aga I have tested works prefect.

That would make a nice little hackintosh! I know the 950 graphics would work.
Do a dual boot.

spihunter:
I read about that. I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks for the reminder.

So the sound is also played back without being choppy, etc? I chose the MSI because after a BIOS update it can be overclocked and run stable at 1.9ghz.
I'll let you'all know how it runs.

@TheMagicM
Yes it works good. At some point it may think of something else than generating sound for a second but that are rare occasions. A couple of weeks back I run Betrayal at Krondor in dosbox and the sound could very well be categorized as advanced torture. Had to turn it of. Unbearable. But winuae sound on the 1.7ghz is fine here. But the travelmate is a notebook so perhaps it's not directly comparable.

I just ordered the MSI in the above link. I also bought a usb 320gig USB powered HD. I'm going to leave Windows on it for now and overclock it. I'll post up after I install WinUAE and run a few tests on it.

might have to return this thing.. man, emulating an A500, ks 1.3 and running the crack intro to Star Control II is terrible. Sound is very choppy, video is slow.
EDIT: I can speed up video but audio is still poor.. man.. I hope I dont have to return this thing..

That unit is screaming out "Put Leopard on me!"

I have WindowsXP on it. I'd only put OSX if UAE worked better. Otherwise I dont know what benefit OSX would have.

congrats on your new netbook.
I have a netbook, ASUS eeepc 1000h.
You should get a copy of Amiga Forever 2008. Runs well on the newer netbooks. esp. 10" screens.
Your netbook should be fine with Amiga emulation as long as you have more than 4GB of HD space and 512MB of ram should do fine as well.
Also OS 3.9 and Amikit runs well on these netbooks.
I always wanted an Amiga laptop. My wishes came true.
A netbook & Amiga Forever a perfect companion.
Not for Amiga Purists.

I'm really sick when it comes to the current UAE situation: How can it be that the best Amiga emulator is Windows only?? It really makes me feel sick.
I wish I had the programming knowledge to port WinUAE to other systems, but I feel it has became too Windows-dependante by now. Having to fire up the stupid Windows just to use Amiga is ..aaaaghhh!! I hate it.
on the other hand, I had WinUAE running on my eeebox b202, wich has very similar specs. It ran pretty sell on my super-optimized system (only most important services running, no AV crapware, no net services running, native resolution at 50hz), but it gave me some stalls/pauses. So I sold the damn thing. A Windoze computer that can't properly emulate an Amiga (it's ONLY use for me, jeez how I HATE that OS) is not use. Back to my Mac Mini....

I ran winuae on a HP 2133 1.6 ghz VIA CPU. this CPU and chipset is the worst you can get in a netbook (apart from the lower clock speed VIA CPU's). It had 2 gig ram and under XP PRO, Winuae flew. Ran everything i threw at it without skipping a beat. As an aside it also ran PS1 and N64 games in 1280x1024, no problems. In fact some of the N64 games look fantastic and the playabilty was as always brilliant. I think enough RAM is the key here, coz your hardware ought to be better than the VIA in the 2133.

well I just installed openSuSE 11.1 on my MSI and I tried the cracked version of StarControl w/the Paradox intro.. no problems. No choppy sound or video. I dont think it was the settings because I tried the simplest settings under Windows XP on this netbook and even skipped frames to no avail.
I guess E-UAE runs better than WinUAE under XP on this netbook.
