Title: Switching a CF card to "fixed disk"
Post by: blanning on March 07, 2009, 07:49:38 PM
It appears that one needs to use the atcfwchg.com utility to do this.  The internet contains 1000s of references to this programs, yet no one has it for download anywhere.  Does anyone have this utility (or something that does the same thing) handy?  Thanks.

The funny thing is that you can download the program if you enter its name as a URL in your browser.

The URL is dead, hence the question here.   ;-)

Argh!  The utility needs to have the CF card attached to the ide bus.  But the only ide CF adapters I have are for the mini notebook ide, not regular ide.

I guess it's a trip to fry's tomorrow.

As a PSA, I was able to get my buddha to recognize a compact flash card through one of those chinese ebay ide adapters.  Originally I had a Sandisk Ultra II 2gb card.  The buddha didn't like it.

I went to fry's to get an adapter to hook it up to my windows machine so I could change that bit, but they didn't have any for some bizarre reason.  While I was there, I picked up some 4gb kingston elite pro 133x CF cards.  They were on sale for $13.  They worked the first try with no trouble.  I'm currently copying 3.1 to the card as I type.  It remains to be seen whether it's bootable, but I think it should be.

I wonder if someone could make a 'master list' of what brands CF cards, and adapters work with various Amiga setups. I know the topic has beed discussed to death, but a full list might help some people.
