Title: Commodore 1084S-P1/1084S-D1 and 1084S - What's the difference?
Post by: 8bitbubsy on March 07, 2009, 01:17:39 AM
Hey... I'm getting a 1084S-P1 for free soon, and I just wondered - is it better than the older 1084S (with the different design)? Any advantages/disadvantages in the 1084S-P1? Is it a good screen?

Just curious, going to use it with both my Amiga 500 and my Amiga 1200.  :-)

The 1084s is (usually) a Philips monitor.  Some other variations were made by Daewoo, and maybe CTX as well.  But I've never heard of a P1.  I think maybe it's a PAL version of the Philips or Daewoo monitor.  Post a picture when you get it.

The Commodore 1084S-P1 seems to be an early variant to the Commodore 1084S-D1 and D2 series.  It looks the same and has the same features.  The other 1084S monitor is a boxy version like the Magnavox RGB 80 monitor...

I have this 1084S (http://www.amigau.com/aig/1084.jpg) but be warned they go yellow easily. Picture quality is good, sound average (best getting a set of speakers)

I think the "P" stands for "PHillips" like "D" for "Daewoo"

I do know the Daewoo 1084s have a better dot pitch.
