I've installed WHDLoad (latest from homepage), clean OS3.1 under A1200 emulation on UAE 1.5.3 and skick346.lha of aminet. I've made a kickstarts folder under Devs: with a snap of my A1200 rom.
But,
Both trying whdload games that need A500 rom (with rom from my A500) and games that need my A1200 rom, it fails with "loadres_LoadKick" with "invalid kickstart image". What should I do? Where should I debug to figure out what's wrong?
-
Did you name the Amiga 500 Rom - kick34005.a500 ? Then put that and the uncompressed skick files in the required directory?
If I recall correctly WHD may not have liked my 500 ROM image (pulled from my actual 500). I think I had to find one from less then reputable sources...
For the 1200 ROM's, as far as I know you don't need to install those ROMs if those are the native ROMs in the computer. At least that's the case with WHD running on my 1200. I just needed A500 ROMs... Not sure if UAE changes things...

I've given the roms the names, and placed the "Kickstarts" folder in Devs, and named the roms accordingly.
I'll try and see if I can find other roms to test with. And perhaps an older version of WHDLoad.
-
Do you have both the ROM image and the .RTB (relocation) file in the kickstarts folder as outlined in the WHDLoad docs?
http://www.whdload.de/docs/en/need.html
It's possible that the kickstart image you have is invalid/wrong version for the .RTB file.

You have the wrong kickfile. whdload needs v34.5.
The version you have, taken from your a500, is version 34.2.

No, it seems like it has to be a problem with my WinUAE config file. Because now I'm using the files (incl rom.key) from my amiga forever 2008 CD. These are reported to be working for other users.

Strange, as I have the same problem. It doesn't matter if I run it on my a1200 or with winuae. So it's no winuae only problem.

Using GrabKick I found a way around the problem with my AF2008 roms

Yes, it seems that it's a common problem and it's WHDLoad. Despite that it says that it supports cloanto roms and rom.key, no one reports it to work. But there is a way around it. It just hit me when reading KillerGorillas hints at eab

May I have that link too because this might explain some of the problems I have on the real hardware not working when the WinUAE does.
Thanks
